  1. Hi ,

Headin up to Simcoe on Wed. Ice fished once lasrt year out of Beaverton with a freinds ATV.Just wondering where a good place to walk out from might be.Coming up from the south.I've looked at hydro maps and followed the threads. Is it worth my while to leave from the public parking @ Willow Beach? Thanks

  2. a freind of mine has a cottage on Sparrow near Brigadoon. We fished for 7-8 hours one sunny Feb. day last winter from Brigadoon all the way to the mouth where the Kahse River empties into the lake and back..Nothing,note even a hit.We drilled more holes than I can remember and fished different depths. If they are there we couldn't find them but good luck and be very careful of the Trent canal flow as was already stated.Don't know what the ice would be like on the Port Stanton side of the lake,we were on the opposite shore.

  3. Couldn't agree more, Rob has treated us extremely well every time we've been up there.

    How was the bite phiphntek?

    Darcy

nothing to write home about but we did manage 4 walleye, couple dozen perch about 10 herring and a handful of pike.Nothing of any size

  4. just got back last night from Hyatt Outdoors.A well run operation.Rob looked after us,made sure we had everything we needed, even offered to move us around if we werent on fish near the hut.Fortunately we getting some perch , pike ,walleye, herring at different times during the day.I plan on returning at some point and I would recommend Rob.

  5. Hey Stern,

I use a Humminbird "Fishin Buddy".It is a portable unit that will clamp to the gunnels of a canoe (my first use), or a dock.It clamps with an oversize "C" clamp.I use it on the ice by lying the c clamp on the ice and sliding the unit through its retaining collar and into the hole. It's certainly not as accurate or responsive as a Vex or Humminbird Ice flasher, but it does indicate when fish are in the area.Certainly low tech but I find it helpful.
