  1. Launch boat off 48 just before Shallamar if u passed gas station went to far....ur rig is perfect for that lake.... Go under bridge eastward and u will see a field of weeds hit the lines u will hit.... I have seen tiger musky come out of there and they r ffffkin nice!!!...also when u lauch troll around island and on ur right there r stumps....experment u will catch....my buddy uses a 12" flat botton with a cooler live will set up and a 30lb trust tm and he catches a ton...dont need a big boat on this lake!

  2. Im leaning towards the shimano..the rod just felt right!...thanks guys for you input!

I picked up a Vendetta last summer, only cause it was on special at a ridiculous price. Bought 2 actually.

They feel good, but like some one mentioned, they are a little short on sensitivity. the MH Fast feels more like a heavy to em. But it does the job when you get a strike.

My Compre(Old Model) is definately my favorite of the 2.

  3. i tested both....yes abu does feel more stiffer then compre....they both feel comfortable in my hands and if your out many hrs on water that is important to me...its funny cause one salesman thought i was not being reasonable on feel...if it doesnt feel right i dont buy...i tested a couple of st.croix..nice rods but felt weired in my hand and not confortable at all....the new compre looks brittle compared to the old version...i take care of my stuff but its the kids i worry about when i trun my back for that split second...decisions decisions...anyone use a vendetta rod?

Though I don't use one, I don't think you need to worry about the durability of a Compre. The same can be said for a Veritas, however, which I used extensively last year. Check them both out: you may find the Abu stiffer at the same rating than the Compre.

I enjoyed the Abu, btw, and will get another in the spring.

    Good luck with your shopping!

  4. ice not ready..weather too mild....launch...sunset cover marina and off centinenal park drive...marina launch is better especially with fluctuating water levels

I was wondering if anyone knew where the boat launch(es) is on Canal Lake. Another quick question, anyone ever gone ice fishing on Canal Lake? I am aware that there is a strong currant, probably makes the ice a bit sketchier.

  5. looking to buy a decent spin rod in the $100ish range...i tried a couple of rods and the ones that feel the best in my hands are the abu vendetata and shimano compre (new one)...i want a 7' spin rod ..on the fence for 2 piece but might get one....compre is a better rod but I think this rod has a higher chance of breaking from handling (ie. kids being rough with it around boat dropped by accedient etc...)- looks brittle...the abu seems a bit more durable....i am willing to sacrifice action for durability marginally....will want to use for worms, senkos, frogs ..mainly plastics..your thoughts?

  6. Ok so I call merc dealer (thx vin) and they tell me plugs on above chart are suggested alternatives..now the stock plug for that engine is an NGK BUZHW... I am still on fence with this as all my research does not show this plug...here is a pic I found on net but I cannot confirm accracy as the ngk site makes no reference to this plug.. To weird ehh!

  7. Is it the same plugs as mine? Also measure the plug head to make sure electrode is same length not to damage piston....my plug is at camp so I can't measure till next week when I go back up but hopefully I can solve this mistery before then!!

    ..

I just ran into the same prob. Marine tells me to use one plug, open up the engine and there is a diff plug number in it. I used the ones that the marina calls for. I have not run it yet I will let you know how it runs tonight!

  8. That plug was after a nice seafoamin ... Just want to have a fresh set in for next season... I bought the ngk at marina went thru manual w tech and they gave me ngk bps confirmed same plug.... Current plug not giving me problem just seems odd why this one is in there... Are these plugs desinged to run hot w less foul up? Should I stick to same ones?

Keep the same kind going. When I go to Canadian Tire to buy plugs for my toyota they give me the wrong ones. The Toyota takes double electrode plugs and the Canadian Tire ones don't have them.

The best bet I guess would be to go to a Merc dealer and bring the plugs.

  9. I have a 91 Merch 25hp 2stroke. Everything running fine but to up keep with maintenance want to give her a tune up and change plugs...I bought a set of NGK BP8h-N-10 as per attached guide (its from the mercury plug manual...alternatively you can use champions...I never pulled plugs from this engine till today and noticed these ones with out an electrode and the numbers don't match ...The plug I pulled out is a Champion QL6VC and not the one as per attached guide...What are your thoughts,,,why would they use this plug? Can I go to NGK? don't want to do anything to harm engine. ANyone see this before???
