Lots of guys just run their shot and float on the main line. Nothing wrong with that. I run 2 swivels in my setup. One above the float, one below.
I'm a one swivel guy. 10 pound mono mainline to a 6-8 fluoro leader with minimal to no line twist. And yes I side cast and typically run fixed floats.
I've ran shot line. Didn't find it helped enough to continue using. As bill states no wrong way. Use what's best for you but tie good knots. I use uni for the mostpart.

Right on man!
Great report man!...
Those are some sharp lookin harnesses.. Do you guys miss many eye's with just the 1 hook?
No not at all . I use one on my minnow and leech rigs. Two hooks for worms.

Pm me your destination if you want. I am very familiar with lake superior park and can probably give you a heads up on what to expect.

I'll come up with Bill in the future for those Atlantics.
Sounds good Drew!

Went to camp up in Hornepayne for a week at the end of August.
Weather was great. Fishing was descent and we managed to get a lot of work done around camp.
On the first day i just hit a few small streams for brookies.
We caught a pile and kept some to snack on.
Then I hit a small lake in a provincial park in my hobie.
Spinner, split shot and Gulp was working great.
A few friends showed up a few days into the week and stayed with us for the weekend.
We fished, rode atvs and had a fire each night.
caught this pike with some extra jewellery
Picked up Ted in White River while we were at camp. He was up at Marmac for a few weeks working.
Figured we better put him back to work since he was done there! lol
The last night we headed over to a lake trout lake to try our hand at a few of the lunkers that live in this lake. We gave it a good 3 hours but to no avail. No hits for any of us. On the brightside it was a beautiful night.
Salmon season arrived quickly and before I knew it I was out guiding on the St. Marys.
I as able to get out with my cousin Ted. We did quite well on the darkened up nooks but nothing huge....all cookie cutters for us...
Next was coho with my other cousin Mike....which I absolutely love to cast for on the St. Marys during early fall on spinning tackle. Vicious hits are the norm. Very similar to steelhead hardware hits and fight almost as hard.
Also caught some descent perch and pike casting for coho
I hope you enjoyed!
Bring on the Steelhead!

Hey OFC!
It has been awhile since I have posted a report. This is due to way to much work and some fishing!
As everyone experienced it was an intensely hot summer! Personally not my cup of tea but the fish didn’t seem to mind all that much! My summer began with only two quick trips out o the St. Marys to chase Atlantics before I had to head north.
July took me up to the big town of Oba, Ontario for a two week guide job at Ontario North Fishing Adventures. Having been twice before, I knew exactly what kind of fishing to expect..... Even though I didn’t bring a camera I was able to snap a few photos with my ipod.
Guest cabin
Oba River....which we ran 12km up each day
Biggest pike was 35", walleye 25" and a few jumbos were caught including a gigantic 15 3/4 incher!
I decided to do some bass fishing on my next few trips from both a kayak and boat. I had a blast flipping and pitching for largies in the thick stuff. This is one style of fishing I don’t do enough but will be in the future...I hope! Didn’t do a lot of smallmouth fishing but some were caught off docks.
Next up I had Rich who heads the Border City Classic up for a day of fishing in Lake Superior Park. Rich hasn’t fished for lake or brook trout much so I gave him a quick run down on my set-up and we were off in our Hobies. Despite a rather slow first hour I took him on my milk run and we must of landed 15 lakers between the two of us and Rich also hit two nice brookies.
Next up was a day in LSPP but with no fishing rods! We just hit the beach, chilled then had a bite to eat at the Voyageur on the way home.
Since we enjoyed relaxing at the beach so much we decided that a camping trip was needed. A group of us headed up into the park the following weekend. We stayed at a campsite that was about a 20-25 minute hike but it was well worth it.......
The next two days and nights were filled of drinking, eating, swimming and drinking.....lol
not enough room for one post....part 2 is posted

That's an offer I'd have a hard time refusing. Enjoy your trip Connie!
Is the Salzberger Hof still in business in Batchawana Bay? I stayed there a few times years ago steelheading north of the Soo and it was always great.
Yes it is. My gf and I stopped in there a few weeks ago to see if we could get a table. We couldn't! Make reservations we wish we did!

Voyageur in batchawana ain't to shabby if you plan on staying the night in the area. Good rooms and food.

at least 2 of the 4 pictures are from Wawa, and here we call them camps, not cottages, and if we hear anybody say cottage, they are definitely not from here.
Haha I noticed that building too! RC, great post. Made me laugh! Camp all the way!
