  1. We are looking for a place to stay from August 22-29 this coming summer. There are 2 seniors, 14 adults, and 3 kids under 2 years old coming along, so we are having a hard time finding somewhere to accomodate us all. Musky fishing is the main priority for myself, however there are others coming along who are interested in biking/hiking or other sports. We are looking anywhere between Ottawa/St. lawrence rivers to st. clair up to nipissing. We have stayed on the Kawarthas the last 5 years but are tired of the same old scenery and the smaller fish. We are hoping to get a couple of cabins for the kids' sake and then take a fifth wheel / tents for te rest of us. Thanks! Mark
  2. I had a great time Saturday as well, agreed the day went way too fast, too bad there wasn't more fish caught. However, we did get a 49 x 21 just before coming in so that was a nice way to end the year. Great to meet you guys and go for dinner afterwards, cheers to a good day. I will post the pic when I get it off the camera with adam's 49 Mark
  3. We fished the Rideau on Thanksgiving Monday for I think five hours, didn't see a thing. Another nice day to be on the water though, that's for sure.
  4. So we fished the Ottawa River today for the first time. Launched at Blair Rd. ramp and went downstream from there. Fished from just before 11 till about 6:30 and caught one musky, 35". First time we've been on the river so we can't complain. The launch wasn't very co-operative though, we ended up getting stuck on the way out and had to call CAA.... Oh well, still a gorgeous day to be out on the water. Fish hit in 13 fow on a perch bait trolled about 10 feet down. Water was about 56 degrees.
  5. Hey BillM You would be fishing more than 16 fow on the Kawarthas? I know deeper lakes would hold fish lower down but on Chemong there aren't too many spots that are deeper than 16 feet, and alot of those spots don't really have steep breaks or weeds, just flat bottom. I thought a fish would swim up 10 feet to hit a bait before they would swim down 10 inches. Just curious
  6. Hey all Hit Chemong yesterday (Sunday) after stopping at Scugog and seeing the water was nothing but mud. Spent 9 1/2 hours on the water looking for skis but didn't even get a hit. Tried everywhere from 4 to 16 fow, mostly trolling from 4 to 2 mph. The water temp. was about 64 and the visibility was decent, a little stirred up but not horrible. Does anyone know where the fish went? We have had success in the summer but whenit comes to fall I usually end up with very little action. Don't know if the fish are just moody or if we are targetting the wrong areas. Mark
  7. Hi all this is Mark. I have been chasing musky for about five years now and have been getting more and better results each year. Having said that, I am still after that 50" giant. I am just wondering if any of the members here would have info on where my best bet would be to get a 50" musky. I have fished the Niagara River, most of the Kawartha lakes, and the Moon River, so far a 46" pigeon fish is my PB. With fall coming on I will definitely be booking a few upcoming trips and would like to hear some ideas about where would be a good bet. Ottawa River has been recommended to me by a couple people but as with a lot of the other trophy waters I have no familiarity with where on the River to start and can't really afford to hire a guide on every different system. Any info would be much appreciated, definitely willing to share info about the Kawarthas where I have had success in return. Thanks, Mark
