Corn Nug .. Let me know how you do on CW for the Opener. It was on the list of possibles for last year but I didn't get to it. This weather though may make it tough on ice out on the bigger lakes. I remember getting stuck in the ice on Merchant May 10, 1997. Here the trend.

The Tornados last year in August apparently also slammed that area. Apparently lots of trees down on the portages. I think it has been dealt with. CW apparently has some giant boulders in it and general rocky structure.

Cold water and very little food are a common scenario for LT habitat so some small fish can be quite old.

Specks on the other hand don't get very old. So dependong on the species...

Was looking through my wallet and found a couple of BPS gift cards. Couldn't remember where I got them or when.

Called the number on the back to get the balance. Typed in the 19 digit number and then it asked for a PIN????

Seems you just need to remove the small sticker to the right of he number to uncover the PIN.

They give you the balance but not the expiry date. Please note the balance is in USD.

The card states that the balance is void after 2 years. I transferred to a rep and found I was good till Sept 2008. Also note that the 2 year period is counted from the last transaction date. So if you use it partially you have another 2 years from that date.

So what do you suggest I buy with my $126.00 US.

What's your budget? I researched all the current sub 3 hp motors and can give you some info there.

Hit Craiglist or Kijiji for used stuff or call round Marina's. For small motors target places that cater to the sailing crowd as they typically use these small kickers for their yachts and tenders.

Depend on the depth of the transom. Basically you want enough of the prop in the water to push the boat without cavitating. And also you don't want too much in because it causes drag.

Oh yeah and the rest of the lakes here..

Congrats I was wondering how it was going.

Gerrit if you do it in the oven coat the racks with a little oil to keep stuff from sticking. Leave the meat in the marinade as longas possible. 24 hours is no probs.

When taking the meat out to dry squeeze as much liquid as possible out of the bag before laying it on the racks. Less moisture less drying time. ALso less drips = less mess.

Also make sure you crack the top of the oven an inch or two to let the moisture escape. I use a wine cork propped in the top. Swithch the racks top to bottom and vice versa during the drying process. Evens the drying process.

Here is Algonquin Park at Opeongo.

As IF says if you are on a downwind run you can use a simple sail rigged up on some poles/paddles.

Tacking into the wind would require some sort of dagger board type rig at the centre of the canoe to control side slip.

Do a search in google on Sailing Canoes.

IMHO it would be cheaper and maybe lighter to go with a motor as Whopper suggest.
