  1. Considering the amount of vegetation in that lake right now, I would say the pike are pretty safe. It's a challenge to find fishable water right now.
  2. Thought I'd share a video from a quick trip to Mountsberg Reservoir. Didn't get into any big pike but it is loads of fun to catch huge numbers of smaller ones. Most of the lake is weedy but there is one spot in the center that is a bit deeper than the rest. All the fish came from that ones spot. Enjoy!
  3. I've fished that area before from the kayak. This was the first time I got into those smaller bass, usually I get the bigger ones from the kayak. Still a nice place to fish.
  4. Ventured out with a friend for some Lake Erie smallmouth bass recently. We didn't manage to get into any bigger ones but did have countless smaller bass and some huge sheepshead. Fun summer day all in all. Enjoy the video. Subscribe and share!
  5. There is some decent fishing to be had on the Lower Niagara right now. Here's a quick video of some action from last week. Enjoy!
  6. I wish I was that efficient :) I spared the audience hours of nothing haha
  7. It was a tough bite yesterday but I managed this one feisty steelhead. The water clarity has been very high for almost 2 months now and the fish appear to be well fed and not easily fooled. Here is a short video, enjoy!
  8. Peter in Thorold. He works from home. I will extend the next video a bit, I just didn't film that much this time around so it came out pretty short.
  9. Hi all, Thought I'd share two quick videos of some winter steelhead action on the Niagara river. I'm still finding my way around the editing process. I'd appreaciate any feedback. I'll look to improve some things on the next video I make. Thanks!
  10. Aliexpress is great, you just have to know what to buy. Spinners are good just make sure they are the Vibrax knock offs and that the weight and size is right. I've bought plenty of stuff from there. Be prepared to wait 2-3 months for delivery though.
  11. Sterling I can go faster than 3mph. So far most of my hits have come at that 2.5mph speed. I am still learning when it comes to that though. Last time I tried trolling a flasher/fly and ended up with a big tangled mess I assumed it was because I was going too fast. Would you just troll straight spoons 3+mph or everything?
  12. jeremy84 As you can see from some of the pictures, I am very careful to plan each trip out so that I am on the water only when the lake is dead calm. I track the wind and know when I can go out and when to stay home. Besides the safety aspect, it's just more enjoyable being on the water when there are no waves.
  13. I'm working on putting up a flag and lighting system right now. For now I'm just staying off the water when visibility is not good.
  14. I use a torpedo diver clipped directly to my line to get my baits down anywhere from 30ft to 70ft. Right now I have 4oz and 8oz torpedo divers. They are fairly good when it comes to resistance. So far I've caught all my fish on straight spoons but I am starting to get into flasher/flies in hope of catching a bigger salmon. I use a Navionics phone app to measure my speed, which is generally around 2.5-2.8mph. Eventually I got the hang of how fast I need to go without anything but I still like the app because I can track my movements and mark where I've caught fish.
  15. It's pretty rewarding. You don't have the benefit of being in a large boat but you are much more involved in the trolling process. Especially if you are paddling like myself. A lot of guys have foot paddles and trolling motors so it makes things even easier.
  16. I've been trying out some Lake O trolling from my kayak for the first time this year. Considering I have no trolling experience whatsoever, I've managed to get into some fish almost every trip out so far. Aside from one 15lb chinook, I've yet to catch a larger salmon this year. I'm hoping it will happen sooon enough. I'm learning as I go. Here are some pictures. Enjoy!
