We stayed here a few years back in June and had a great time.  Dokis First Nation on the French River.  We had great walleye fishing and a couple big muskie for some extra fun.  Not sure about boats as we had our own.  Cabins were simple but comfortable and not expensive.

    Thanks, this place looks interesting.

10 Mile Lodge  on Lac Dumoine

I have NO affiliation other than I've fished there for 35 years. Back when it was flying only. Now you need a,truck or at least an SUV. I go in in a Toyota RAV4 twice a year.

4 days 3 nights well catch 300 walleye. Throw most back. The odd time fishing will be tough because a thunderstorm rolls through and we'll only catch galf that

Great  walleye fishing at a place called Erieau  just outside Chatham on Lake Erie. There are cabins to rent and the fishing is incredible.  Can catch some real hogs. Also can catch rainbow salmon and perch.  People at fish cleaning station are friendly and will let you know where they are biting.  It is a small place but it has a couple of restaurants and a beer and liquor store.  Only about 3 hours  from GTA. Nice thing too is your limit is 6 a day for walleye  with no size restrictions.

    Thanks for the info.

Brennan Harbour or Vance's...both near the mouth of the Spanish River on the North Channel of Lake Huron.

    Or

Kipawa Lodge or Alawaki Lodge on Lake Kipawa, Quebec.

    Thanks will check them out.

  6. My 2 fishing buddies and I are looking for a Lodge for a week in September that has good walleye fishing within an 8hr drive from the GTA. The Lodge should have reasonably priced housekeeping cabins or cottages that have a BBQ on the deck. Any recommendations you could give us would be appreciated. Thanks

The last few trips I have been tenting and i’m looking at doing something different.  It takes too long to set up and not weather proof enough.
I’m thinking about getting a cargo trailer that I can put my boat inside.  Once the boat is out I can use the cargo trailer as a camper.  My boat is heavy so it would have to be on a small trailer.
custom cargo trailer so it’s not bigger then I need.
    Any thoughts.

irishfield could build the walls and roof on an aluminum flatbed.

Putting a boat on a trailer in and out of a cargo trailer will be awkward. Then you have no camping comforts inside the cargo trailer. Also towing that big cargo trailer will be another problem. If you don't want another truck camper or small RV then get a good quality tent that does not leak in the rain.

  8. There is Bluebird park launch on the road to the airport on the south side of the lake. If your not a resident with a parking permit then you will have to pay for parking at the parking lot kiosk with your phone.  Not sure if the park lot is open or plowed in winter. The other launch at Longford Mills was open this past spring after grading and fencing. I would check it to see if it is rely closed.

  9. I have oak, ash, white pine some maple on my property. Fortunately no ash near the building. Not there year round but when there in colder months heat with oak and ash that has been split and dried for a year. Dry hard wood gives more heat and less creosote.  I have more ash at the back and when they are dead I too hope the ash borer does not move to other trees.

The gaff type holder used in the picture may be as harmless as a finger in the gill plate.

The plastic gaff (not sharp) was used to hold the bowfin because of sharp teeth. It was released back into the lake.

  11. My son caught a bowfin in a shallow weedy lake north of Orillia. I have never seem one and did not know they existed in Ontario. The fish was re least.

The bowfin  has existed since primordial times. It is part of the Amiidae family and is the only living representative of the order Amiiformes, which is traced back to Jurassic times. Bowfin fish are often referred to as a “living fossil.”
