  1. A few years back I also lost a fishing buddy that was like a brother. Although time will help to heal the loss you will always have him in your heart and thoughts. Remember the good times. I think memories are the way were suppose to cope with these losses.

  2. Dog recovery time and their ability to handle pain has always amazed me. What would put a human away for weeks seem to only be days for them, unfortunately thats why you have to be so careful with their recovery. Hard to keep them down so they do the medication for a week or so. Just do your best and time will go by faster than you think.

  3. As some of you know ever since my bowel surgery in April I have been having setback after setback and to be honest they have taken a psychological toll on me. I have been to 6 different specialists and been poked and prodded to the point that I didn't much care what they did as long as they found something that was making me feel so tired and weak. Over the past two months I have had numerous tests and biopsies to determine if I had some form of Cancer. On Tuesday last I had my final needle biopsy on my lung where there was a questionable mass. Got the results this morning and I am for now 100% Cancer free which to me was the best Christmas present I could have received. I'm still into some major heart stuff that needs to be addressed but we can start with that stuff after January 1ST and hopefully get back to be able to at least do 50% of what I used to.

  4. Travel warning for the

    Christmas Season in

    Ontario!

I just wanted to give you a warning that if you are planning on visiting Ontario, and are heading up toward the Toronto area on the 401 highway this week.

The Ontario Provincial Police are cracking down on speeders.

For the first offense they are giving two tickets to the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game.

If you are stopped the second time they make you use them!!!!

  5. Mom has been slipping for the last few months, and at 90 she has had a good life. Yesterday she took a turn for the worse and she passed this morning about 6:30. Her life was long and fulfilling and although I'll miss her I know she has gone to a better place and a place without pain. I haven't posted this picture in a while but it's one of my favorites taken on the Montreal River by Elk Cabins when she was in her 80's. I think it captured her spirit well.

  6. Lew I like retirement but have worked at many things since doing so. It occupies your time pays you a reward and gives you something to do during those long winter weeks. I used to jack cars to and from the auctions while in University many many years ago and it was a lot of fun back then.

  7. The furnace I use is propane. Just make sure you meet fire codes for propane/gas if going with one of these units. Note the furnace is elevated and the chimney pipe installed to proper standards. If not installed properly and you have a fire your insurance may not cover you. Mine unit will keep the garage from just above freezing to hot. Insulate your overhead doors with Styrofoam and if not already done insulate your side walls and install a doggie door.

  8. Cigarette....haven't has one since July 1978 and I used to smoke 50 to 70 of Craven menthols ( or Salem's in the States ) a day. If I win donate the case of beer to a VFW or old folks home that's having a Christmas party because I haven' t had a beer for over 30 years.

  9. Mmmm lets see. After selling my Starcraft Salmon boat I spent some dollars on a Eagle 502I GPS bought the navionics great lakes card. Purchased a new Unidin VHF radio, bought 2 new bass/walleye rods a St Croix Avid and a G Loomis and picked up a used 70 hp Evinrude to replace the 30 Evinrude on my boat. Trouble with all this was/is I was to sick all summer to try any of the stuff so next year I won't have to spend any money on anything. Oh one other thing I had a custom Bimini top made for the boat for those hot sunny days.

  10. The real problem here is no one wants the truth told, their all just looking for an excuses....well try these. Not enough snow and rain, higher temperatures, inland municipalities drawing ever more water and further more municipalities running new pipelines to their area. Drain off by the US Army corp of engineers to bolster levels on the Mississippi and divert water to other "in need" areas. Why list anymore...no one will believe the truth...it's like the x files "Trust No One" I live on Huron and the diminishing levels on our part of the Great Lakes system has been /is devastating.

  11. Guess like a few here I'm fortunate as I like where we live along the Southern end of Lake Huron as much now as I did when we moved here over 25 years ago. I would like to perhaps try the Mountains in B.C. but age and health kind of kicks that off the plate. In the North I like the Noelville and the Elk Lake area but with the family firmily entrenched around us I wouldn't want to miss watching the grandkids grow up so here we will stay for now.

  12. Although I voted for between now and Christmas during the London Show would be as good. Had a Brontie burger last July and I am hankering for another as I type. Unfortunately for me everything hinges on ( again ) my health. Going in this or next week to have them needle me and remove a liter or so fluid from my right lung ( I can't wait ) and sometime around the 26th an angiogram ( another thrilling day in my life ). If all goes as planned and no bypass is required then bring on the burgers!!!!!!!!!!
