A great show tonight!!! Love watching fishing docs in that kind of environment! My vote for favourite vid was definitely the last Mending The Line! A bit of a tear jerker!
A bit? I was balling! lol

basically its the same rig you'd use for pier casting for salmon, personally i use a 9-10ft rod, some people use up to 15ft, with a 4000 size spinning reel, 15lb braid, with 6-8lb test fluoro leader, and the terminal tackle you mentioned is correct, 1oz egg sinker with a nice fat roe bag at the end, cast it out as far as you can, put your rod in a holder, sit down in a lawn chair with a cold one and wait
WOW lets do it!

dang, we caught some 1-5lbs in the Columbia, return trip may be in order!
many out west anglers consider bass, walleye and pike to be garbage fish, even where they occur naturally and are not invasive...trout and salmon are obviously the only trophy fish
Thats interesting. Many bass fisherman here feel the same way about trout and salmon.
Why would a bass fishermen think trout are garbage fish?

Steel bunny,
You might as well have walked into an army base. LOL! It's actually a little overwhelming...
What happens when fisherMEN see you on the water pullin fish? lol... Do they give you all of their secret spots?? haha....i get a few good tidbits every now and then (but secret spots stay that way with me
I've always wanted to try for steelies but never knew any spots. I just found a spot veeerrryyy close to my area in the west end of the city. Gonna try to hammer some come season Ha! It's addicting.....might as well start saying goodbye to your family and friends

Hi all,
I am a new member, looking to learn a few things and meet others who share my insane obsession with fishing. The more you get to know me, the more you will see that I am sicka than your average......
I am from Durham, fishing mostly the east side of the GTA.
I like to fish for anything that swims but my real passion is steelheading. I get out as often as I can which has been 3-4 times a week on average. First light, after work or mid day....I'll take what I can get.Right now I'm float fishing but I just picked up my first fly rod and I cannot wait to learn on brookies this spring!
Does anyone else feel the way I do about steelheading? Thats probably a silly question....

Anybody know where one can rent an ice hut to themselves on simcoe?
My buddies keep flopping..and would be nice to just go alone..but prefer to be in a warm hut. However, most operators have a min person charge! Sucks but I understand why
I was just thinking the same thing this morning. Its not always easy to find people you want to spend 8 hours with in a small hut. Maybe if you can go during the week, and if they have availability...they will let you rent one solo?
When I find a place I will let you know
HELP - Islander or KP Imperial
in General Discussion
Posted
Hello everyone
I am trying to decide between the islander cp and the kingpin imperial.
I am new to float fishing, and this will be my first cp.
Do you have any opinions on which one I should get, and why?
Thanks for your help!!
