  1. Matt knows how to get under the skin of Leaf fans. That's his gift. As a Leaf fan myself, I laugh at a lot of the comments because frankly, some are correct. I have been arguing with others on FB about the pre season being " meaningless".

As I watched the Leafs get clobbered in Ottawa, I could not help but think that the Leafs were not ready to play. Meaningless, im told.

Maybe Ottawa on paper had the " better" lineup, but the Leafs were not ready from the opening faceoff. Now, think back to last year or even many years and how often you have seen that? Too often in my opinion.

This is what is supposed to change under the new management. They better work on that.

Now, next night in TO it's payback time! Our lineup is stacked minus a couple of ringers but for the most part, the Leafs " on paper" should win.

So as it turns out..... the Leafs outplayed them badly, were up 2-1 and blew the lead, and pulled their goalie and were scored on not once, but twice right away to stop any thoughts of tying the game.

This is what drives me nuts as a fan of the blue and white. Same old things that haunted them last year, popping up in the "meaningless" pre season games.

So, if the Leafs eventually get things straightened out (and how long have we been waiting for that) it could be a long season for Leaf fans on here and Matt will have all the ammo he needs!

I expect a different season than last year. Some improvement on defensive play would be nice. Playoffs? Mathews scoring 40? All depends if these players can buy into a system of defense and do it right.

And the goalie will have to stand on his head too.

    That's my rant

  2. The card expires every 3 years. I always purchased a license for a year and had to carry a ridiculous piece of paper printed out on my computer.

This year, since my card expired, I decided I would get a 3 year license so both expire at same time.

The new card arrived with my license stamped on the back. Now I have just the card and no paper. I'm happy with that!

  3. I have been going there for a week in Oct. the last 6 years. Yes, the fishing is tough. Scenery is out of this world! One of my favorite places to fish.

Totem Point is a great place to stay. You don't have to travel far to catch Muskie is all I can tell you.

The Hamilton Chapter of Muskies Canada will be having their annual outing there Oct 13,14,and 15th.

So if you're up there around that time, you could definitely benefit from chatting up a few guys. At least, they could point out any hazards to you.

  4. To clarify. we only fish the pre spawn. Never do we hang over bass beds(purposely) with senkos or anything else. Once water hits 60 degrees we give it up. Best fishing is in the 55 degree range.

Been doing it for about 5 years now and it tides me over until Muskie season and bass opener on Canadian soil.

  5. Got out tues for my first attempt at some spring bass in NY waters. No pics but we caught several nice smallies on tubes. This is the earliest I've managed to catch these big bronzebacks. Lots of fun, beautiful day, looking forward to the fishing only getting better!

  6. My fishing partner have it down to a science. My boat or his, One backs boat in the other is in boat. If you have 2 experienced people piece of cake. Fire the boat in and don't take up dock space. Truck gets parked, partner picks you up at dock, bass start biting and all is good.

A bit tougher on your own but if you plan properly and take your time its only a few minutes. Crystal Beach launch is a great place to have a picnic if you want to watch some boat launch follies.

  7. 2 years ago I went to the boat show looking for a new boat. I ended up with a Lund 1775 Impact. This is my second Lund. The other was a Mr. Pike 16". The Mr. Pike was a great boat had it 15 years was just ready for an upgrade. I looked at Princecraft, Lowe, Smokercraft and Lund amongst others.

All these boats are great one way or another. I was very picky about a few things and Lund had all the answers. Size was determined by budget and garage space.

IMO you can't go wrong with Lund.

What you can go wrong with is the dealer. Find out from other boat owners the dealers reputation. It helped me make the right decision!

  8. Was out Tuesday. missed a fish at boatside around 4 pm because I was not paying attention. So fished all day 10-530 saw only 1 fish and missed it because I suck lol. That's muskie fishing.

All those great years at the Thames, you had to think a tough bite would eventually happen. Maybe this is that off year.
