I don't use it much for the type of fishing that I do. Some guys up here swear by spraying tube jigs with WD-40 for lakers through the ice. Have I tired it? Sure have. Have I caught fish? You bet. Do I think it makes a big difference? Not really.

Species like catfish, I truly believe that scent helps... big time! That's how they find food, scent dispersal in the water, more so then any other freshwater fish. For that reason, fresh dead bait is key.

For walleye, I don't. If I'm not using live bait then I'm using gulp and God knows it has enough scent already!!

I guess you could say that I'm not a true believer but I'm not going to discredit it altogether. My advice would be to try it and form your own opinion. Fishing, like a lot of things, boils down to confidence. If added scent gives you the confidence, then that's all that matters.

Match the line to the rod you plan to use. Say for ex you're going to be using an 8' ML then 6lb test will suffice with a properly set drag. If you're going to be using a heavier outfit then heavier line.

Gotta agree with Limey though, what method to target them with? Different line for dipsey divers vs. say long lining a cleo. Different rods for that matter too.

I used to use this knot when I was long-lining AC Shiners for rainbow trout on Gbay. Gives the lure more freedom and action.

Crappy deal Kevin. What happened to them all? I'm surprised to hear that since I've used several different lowrance products for a lot of days on the water and have had very little go wrong. I'd be calling Lowrance as well.

I vote Bibs. I absolutely love my mine and will never go back to the pant style.

Watch out with the 2 cables going to the transducer..... sometimes the wrong one takes the weight of the 'ducer and causes it to sit unlevel (and you won't mark properly). I ended up removing the support cable altogether.

Get the biggest screen you can afford. There's no doubt that you will run in split screen a lot (GPS/Graph) and will appreciate the extra inches.

I'm going to that lake tomorrow Simon... the first one in your report. Been out there twice recently and did okay. Trout and whities landed and my buddy lost a pig laker yesterday right under the hole. I'm starting to really love that lake!!

1000 size is ideal for walleye, bass and I use my 1000 size on my my ice rods as well.

I'm telling you... the Eskimo's with the VIPER engines are the easiest starting auger engines ever. I'm drilling 2 or 3 holes before the jiffy's are started.

TIP IT! This is probably the single best producer of walleye on my local lakes - the largest sized one. Tip the centre treble with a minnow.

Anyone using a lower profile such as the zillion, curado ....etc for muskie ? (with appropriate braid of course)

I use the largest sized Curado (300 series) for throwing smaller bucktails and topwater on one of my muskie rigs. Works great, love it.
