No thanks....ugly little sucker....I can't imagine what other creatures are lurking in the deep waters. Almost makes me want to give up fishing - almost.
Beware.......these are not deep water fish!! ankle to knee deep water is where you'll usually spot em!

What?
Bass.....26th

Explore some of the notty tribs. You should be pleasantly surprised!

...but I'll sure be listening more carefully to the next pro-greeny I might otherwise be inclined to laugh off.
How many warnings is it gonna take? Or are we just gonna keep abusing the Earth until it finally quits on us? Perhaps that's what we really deserve anyway.
Is there anyone out there who disagrees? Who votes for allowing big industry and gutless governments to continue to destroy the planet for profits? Who is unwilling to give up any creature comforts for the sake of the planet?

You said it man! Can we really go back...no. Not at this point anyways. The friggin planet runs on oil at this point. Whether you wear it or what you wear was made by it, crude is all around us.....and it'll probably be the end of us as well. Wars, environmental devastation, poverty. Its all right there and has been for decades. I imagine it'll only get worse. This simply touches on what can actually go wrong.

(shhhh) You can actually take carp on the fly (shhhh). Don't say that out loud tonka or the luddites on this forum will run you out of town! https://www.msu.edu/~connert/carpfly.htm I'm currently experimenting with catching carp on the troll. I'm waiting for the weather to change because it has been too cold post spawn. Bullhead are certainly taking lures.
They just might even be fun to stalk on the fly......what was that I read one time about carp being fresh water bonefish??

I too decorate trees with feathers and fur!

you can find several "atlas" type documents on the mnr site. They'll give you GPS co-ords and other info such as that.
Here's one, and there are many more. I've found them useful personally.

Thats a decent setup for a beginner for sure!
You should also check out the Grand Opportunities forum this june at Belwood Conservation Area. Its entirely free, and there are a bunch of seminars that are very helpful when just starting out!

Nice ties man! What'd ya use for the legs?
Those should be good for resident trout as well, if you fish for those too!

This actually happened a few years ago.
Here's a link to a Trout Unlimited video about the project:

I've done the same.
CC'd to a few Stewardship Presidents that I know as well to see what kind of response they might have.

sick isn't it.....all of it.
It gets worse every year, and theres nothing that any of us can really do about it. Southern Ontario is highly populated, and it'll just continue to grow and grow. There are ignorant asses in every race/religion/creed/whatever, but, the fact is that it will continue to happen. Some people open their mouths and do something about it, some dont, but either way, nothing positive happens in the end. Its always the same.
The pigs will always be out there as they've always been.

It was good to see you again Mike - yesterday was definitely the highlight of my Spring Steelhead season. It really, really tough to tear myself away for that meeting!
Something tells me that tackle/fly shops in the province are soon going to be sold out of Stonefly numphs
As for the pattern, I was using a couple different ones. The one with the copper wire rib is a small Montana Stone pattern. The larger one is a standard pattern that's available at most shops (known as Kaufmann's Stonefly nymph - just Google it.). Bead head, rubber legs, turkey quill wingcases).
Excellent...lots of Kaufmans in my box....I'll have to tie up some montanas for tomorrow!

Nice man!
Any way you might be able to post a clearer shot of that fly.....looks like a dandy!

we have lots of prime trout creeks in southern Ontario....
You should be able to make yourself feel at home in these parts!

Resent egg collection has gone on for ringwood hatchery, eggs and sperm are collected the fish are sliced and thrown back in the river............
Can't say I've ever heard that one before.

I am absolutely without a doubt going to be at the show.........thirteenth time for me

Gorgeous color on those fish, man. I wish the bass we catch down hear looked like the ones you guys have. My PB smallmouth came from Wisconsin and had a similar coloration to that one. I really wish I had a pic of that fish.
I think thats a largemouth BB.

I can't remember if its caledonia or york, but this is the time of year that is excellent for mooneye on dry flies down there. There also should be some walleye in there, and probably pike, carp.....heck, I'd say give it a go!
