  1. Save up another 100 bucks and you'll have many more options available to you, around 200bucks for a baitcaster, you can't go wrong with any at that price point. Whether it's shimano, abu, quantum, etc... You do get what you pay for when it comes to reels, spend a bit less on the rod and more on the reel, you won't regret it.

  2. Bottom line, how much do you want to spend???

I used to have a Winchester 1300 pump with the long barrel and a rifled barrel and I loved shooting it, the slide would come back a bit after each shot enabling a quicker pump for the second shot if necessary. I get another in a heartbeat if I found one in good shape. I have an 870 in 20 guage that is a really nice piece. As for the Benelli, it's all about cost, how much will the shotgun cost you along with a rifled barrel?? An 870 for $400 odd is a great deal and not too big a pill to swallow especially that you are new to hunting. If you don't enjoy it, you'll be stuck with an expensive wall decoration. You could spend the difference on good boots, a coat, gear, etc....

  3. Hopefully it'll be a lesson for these boneheads. As for the Marina, they will have to re-think their security arrangements because 1 or 2 boats is bad enough but 52!!!!! Shameful, any damages should be picked up by the marina in good faith otherwise there will be 52 customers looking elsewhere for slips/storage.

  4. I actually used the ramp in Bobcaygeon between Gordon Yacht Club and Riverside Lodge, only problem was that the shoal just past the bridge was not marked and I bounced off of a rock and trashed my prop. I spent the summer boating in Georgian Bay with it's gazillions of rocks and I end up hitting one in the Kawartha's. Anyways, it's always smart to keep a spare prop on the boat along with the necessary tools, otherwise, I would have ended up heading back home.

The fishing was so so, we caught a few smallies and tons of slab rock bass, and sunfish. No walleye and more importantly for myself, no muskie.

  5. That'll leave a mark!!! I know about that way of doing it but I've never seen it done before. I have personally seen the 'wall of shame' in Kenora General Hospital, there are some nice lures on there missing hooks. I guess that's another reason to pinch down your barbs.

  6. I would avoid 11 thru North Bay. Take the 400 up to 17 and stay on it the whole way from Sudbury to the Soo, up the Eastern shore of Superior (one of the most beautiful places in the world btw), around Marathon to Tunder Bay and up the rest of the way. No secondary roads to get lost on esp. if you are not familiar with the area. Make sure you follow the signs going thru the Soo, and you'll be fine. There's lots of places to stop along the way and it really is a beautiful drive. I'm going to miss it, my in-laws just sold the cottage on LOTW and have completed their move down to the Niagara Bench. Lots of great memories and tons of great fishing, the last night up there last year, the wife and I caught 30 walleye in less than an hour and a half on a gorgeous night, I guess the lake was saying goodbye to us.

  7. West Marine in Midland has the charts, both the set of 5 that covers Port Severn to Parry Sound (I recommend that oneand I ahve both) for $35 I think and the big 1 pager (not as detailed) for $20odd. Don't mess around in GBay, there are so many shoals and rocks that it is really easy to damage both yourself and your boat. DO NOT GO OUT ON THE WATER WITHOUT A CHART!!!!!
