  1. I use 6 lb crystal, it has never let me down. Even caught a 80 pounds sturgeon on it.
  2. I purchased three seats for my boat over a year ago. the seats all have the standard swivel base on them and the swivel is removable. I want to mount a seat on the front. Below the front there is a waterproof compartment that I would like to keep water proof. The only way I can see to get this seat mounted is to use self tapping screws. I don't think this method would hold up to years of wear and tear. Anyone have any advice?
  3. Gulp works wonders. I have caught many limits of walleye on 4" minnow, smelt color. Theres also finns plastics. Blue\white jig heads have been working here in the Detroit river. We use chartreuse jigs and body's if the waters dirty. The only time I get live bait is for ice fishing! These fish were caught on a 3/4 oz jig, 4" berkley gulp minnow smelt colored.
  4. ebay has saved me $.. cha-ching
  5. I would order online through BPS or cabela's to get the best line. You know they sell allot and your line is not "out of date". I dont see myself replacing fireline for a few years at least. I mostly fish the St. Clair and Detroit rivers with 8 lb fireline. Since i moved to this hi tech line i never break off or think that my line may cause a problem. 100% confidence in your line is the key.
  6. In-Fisherman covers a wide variety of species and approaches. Outdoor life will get you hunting and fishing. Walleye insider concentrates on what the pros are doing. Field and stream will also get you hunting and fishing. Subscribing to these magazines will help allot when all you can think about is fish. I subscribe to all of the above and have caught more fish because of it. Reading new techniques and ways to catch species already in the body of water you are fishing will improve you time on the water. In fisherman is my favorite. Tight lines, Ryan
  7. isn't the eel that were talking about a berbit? (the one in the picture)
  8. fish were biting at peche island last i heard. The wind has made it near impossible to fish the last 4 days. there has been fish taken on the american side near alter rd.
  9. with this cold weather the fish are near warm water discharges from power plants. I was out this morning as well. I was at the north end, were the fish must of been hiding. It was so cold, everything was covered in ice including me. Gulp minnows and finn-s minnows are working wonders with heavy jigs.
  10. fenwick makes a great rod!
  11. Action has been increasing from lake Erie to lake Huron. Pre-Spawn walleyes in large number gather in these two rivers. Season is open all year long in these international waters. Follow this link: http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/photopos...big&cat=542 The Saint Clair river has been producing a good number of steel head, with walleyes just entering the river. For any of you looking for the best walleye action come here and jig the rivers. You will need 3/4 oz jigs and gulp minnows and stinger hooks. A medium heavy rod with fireline spooled. If you have a chance to fish here in spring dont pass it up!!!
  12. I just purchased a Garmin GPSMap 76 csx. I researched portables for a while before i made the purchase. Best marine portable on the market. You can get the unit for around 350 us dollar on eBay. Then i would purchase the blue chart for your area. The blue chart will have a lot of information including contour lines for lakes. This GPS is water proof and it floats. Runs approx 18 hours on batteries.
