Thanks for the advice! Along the same vein - what's the minimum for safety in terms of watercraft that you would recommend when trolling in Quinte?

Try looking at an Okuma EB-50 bait-runner reel. Its slightly bigger than the 4000's, much stronger and has a bait-runner function if you are using live bait (which might be the case for pike). I know they are kinda hard to come by and in demand (also used by carp fishermen). I have one and love it!
