It can be done. But first thing's first you gotta keep your distance from the fish because if the fish feels it's in danger, it probably won't bite. I have my best success fishing small creeks early in the morning. Not only is there less light, the fish are also more active during that time. Small lures work really well. Especially if your in the right spot, but your presentation must be as mint as possible.

I guess you could say it's like rod length. Some people have that extra few inches.

When I ice fish with live minnows, I sometimes move a good distance away from my rod. It seems to work especially well with rainbow trout.

I've had the helmet hero and I thought the quality was really impressive on high res.

You don't even have to tell them anything if the fish are dead. Most people won't really consider what you say to them and since it is illegal, the best action would be to report them to the hotline.
