Hi Cliff! Hope all is well. Let me know when you are up for some Walleye fishing on Sturgeon this year.
When I don't have any fresh, I usually get my roe from http://www.fishheadscanada.net/

I just saw this now. So sorry to hear the news. Jeahn, the boys and I send our sincerest condolences.
You and Sue will be in our thoughts and prayers. May eternal rest be granted unto Sue and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

No one has ever died from not eating a mushroom.

Hi Tjames09, I'm just up the river from you it seems. I went through the same things when I started (same questions I see you posting I went through). Extremely frustrating in our area as it gets chocked pretty good in the summer. Felt like it was useless to fish largies with a 12 volt on my 18 foot Legend.
I tried everything short of epoxying razor blades on the prop.
The solution that worked for me is to go to a 24 volt. I have no experience with motorguide, but the 24 volt Minnkota I can tell you works for me. You still need to lift and clear matted veg once and a while from the shaft not prop.

I have a gas bbq, a Traegar smoker and a Large Green Egg
Each have their advantages and disadvantages.
BBQ you can turn it on use it quickly, turn it off and your done, great for after work, rushed evenings making dinner.
EGG is a lot more involved, you need to light the charcoal, let it go through the motions letting the charcoal burn properly and let it get hot which usually takes about half hour to 45 minutes. Great for Saturday and Sunday cooking. Also your cook space on the egg being circular is limited, I have the large egg and I can only get about 8 burgers on it comfortably. There are optional tiered racks but I find them a pain in the butt to work with, no side burners, no control over temperatures from one side of the grill to the other like with a gas bbq. You can get the egg from 200 to 600 or 700 degrees, so your temps are very flexible. I did smoke some ribs one time and they turned out amazing on the egg, pizza is good, steak is good, its all good but its more of a weekend BBQ play toy drinking beer with buddies.
Traegar is awesome for brisket, ribs, fish, chicken etc, although they advertise it as a grill, it is not a grill, it is a smoker. Low and slow. Love my Traegar, makes ribs and brisket to die for.
I bought a high end Napolean from Ontario Gas BBQ 7 years ago, ($2000.00 bbq), worked great the first season. It was a propane grill and started to go through propane like it was water. Every time I turned around the tank was empty and no it was not leaking. It went through 20 lbs of propane like 2 lb bottles, would never get hot, took forever. I complained with no luck to Ontario Gas BBQ, ended up I just scrapped it in the scrap metal drive here in town, never again will I buy a Napolean. So much for buying Canadian. Absolutely hated that BBQ, most expensive piece of scrap I ever bought.
I have a Weber now and have had great luck with it after about 4 years, would definitely consider another Weber.
Just my experience.
I also have a BGE and a Napoleon natural gas. Agree with everything said above. There is a learning curve with the Egg and you develop a relationship with it. To add, to get volume out of the egg, you need to stack vertically or use rib racks etc.cook roasts etc. Its great for roasts of any kind especially roast chicken. I agree you need time to use it. Some say it only takes 15 minutes to get it to 900, but I find you need to let the fire burn for a bit to get the desired blue smoke to eliminate the rancid smoke flavour for the delicious clean charcoal flavour.
I've had my Napoleon for 16 years. The key is the stainless steel parts to achieve the longevity. I had an issue with the sear plates, called Napolean after the warranty had well expired and they send me new parts no charge. My next natural gas BBQ will be a Napoleon.
If I had to decide today, I'd look at the Traeger Timberline series (set it and forget it) and compare with the BGE for my charcoal/smoking needs. And get a Napoleon for quick grilling.

You need two different setups for vertical jigging vs. ripping. Ripping requires a more stout rod, the taper doesn't matter as much because you are ripping up vigorously every time. For vertical jigging the XF taper will help as Buick14 mentions. I would recommend you start with a vertical jigging rod and try it for ripping as well. Then try your bass rod (baitcast will work) for ripping as well to get a feel for what think would be best.

I find its not the action/taper that is the key for ripping bucktails, its more the power. I use a 6'6" fast action MH to rip through the weeds. For jigging on the edge (not through the weeds) then a fast, M is good. For Bass in heavy cover, I use a baitcaster for accuracy and stronger drag to get the fish out.

I switched out my stock Shimano bearings on an 201e7 and D101s for ABEC7 Ceramics. Did a spin test on a stopwatch before and after and did not notice a measurable difference. On casting couldn't tell either other than now the reels are much noisier on the cast.
They'd probably make a great figit spinner though.

Cool. Good fishing!

I have a Legend XCaliber as well. I second or third Trojan - really good guy to deal with and quality product. He will rubberize the Down East Salty to protect your rod handle if its cork. Plus make a custom mount for you to get them attached or detached and out of way when not in use.
I use them for Muskie in the Kawartha's.

Water level way up. My regular launch's dock was under water last weekend. My want to check ahead.

I have an Mustang auto inflate as well. Pleasure to wear.
Some of the higher models have a more comfortable collar. Mine starts to each on the back of the neck if its right against the skin.
Also, be sure that you have easy access to replacement recharge kits as they have expiry dates on them.

I have both Carbonlites and Cumaras. I'll trade you my Carbonlites for your Cumaras.

This makes it x4...I haven't been down there for a couple of years as I.m pretty well stocked up. He carried a good supply of Fin S tubes...

That's the one that has my eye, close to home and the dealer.` Thanks, Paul.
I would also echo that it leaks right after spraying. More heavily for the first couple of days. I had it on my driveway the first year I had it done for 1 day after the spray. Spots everywhere, but they washed off with rain.

This is my problem, having not do it before, it's a gamble on what shop to choose?
Hi Albert, for years I've been going to Krown on Highway 7 and Creditstone. Very happy customer.

Which gas stations sell no ethanol? Shell?
Two in Lindsay. Shell (Pro V) and Loblaws (91).

Largemouth in weeds or wood you don't need a leader. No need to introduce another point of failure. On super clear conditions under docks with a slow sinking bait 20lb flouro lead. BPS Extreme or Sunline.
Smallmouth with jerkbaits 10 or 12 lb flouro lead to keep the trebles from snagging onto the braid. Dropshoting 8 or 6 or 4 lbs flouro.

Not related to health care, but to dishwasher repair. Our dishwasher wasn't working. So my wife kicked me in the butt.
Also our dishwasher appliance wasn't working either. It would go through all of the cycles but no water would come out. Tried it multiple times on three different days. Finally decided to call for repair. When he got there he turned it on and it worked fine. You guessed it - $95.00.

Nice to read. 'Me days'. ?

So it's not true that the best two days of owning a boat is the day we buy and the day we sell.

Fisherpete on this forum does. He continually receives rave reviews. Send him a PM.

Anything in the Peterborough/ApsleyBuckhorn area ?
In Buckhorn I really like 'The Olde Ice House'. Really good handmade burger made with natural local beef. Food is made from scratch.
In Peterborough I like St. Veronus Cafe. Food is great with nice selection of interesting beer on tap.
