  1. get a letter from the Homeowners.. they can't do crap to you if you have permission as it is a communal launch. (unless it is owned by 1 person and they do not want you to launch out of there). They can take it up with the Homeowners if they want to. Most of the time it's just people being bitchy because they want to have the lake all to themselves. They couple may have been saying the cop line to scare you off because it's easy to say "my friend gave me permission". A letter solves it all.

  2. I agree with you in the computer age stuff. It's a pain when you don't have the right diagnostic tools. The car companies are now employing engineers who have a grudge against us mechanics.. you can't get your hand into anything without a cut or removal of everything short of teh engine! VW now has ELECTRONIC parking breaks instead of mechanical.. try to figure that stuff out when it breaks.

  3. Got the spindle nut out....took lot of heating and even more muscle power ...but as it came out it stripped the thread.......so now need new drive shaft....ordered one from a local junk yard...guy asked for my credit card and told me to go pick it up couple hours later and I can pay cash and he'll reverse the credit card charge....well got there...no part...waited 1.5 hrs...finally it came but is the wrong one...refused to buy it, the guy got very angry started threatening to damage my car to put a lean on it etc. crap...got a big steel chunk wanted to throw it at my car...got in the car and left before things escalated further, got home called the bank and on their advice cancelled my credit card ...learned my lesson...stay away from shady places as junk yards...not worth the minimal savings...anyhow got to find a drive shaft tomorrow....got some of the steering components back on but have to wait for the drive shaft before continuing...not that difficult a job so far at all…makes a big difference to have the right tools though…good thing I have resourceful neighbours ;-)

    Cheers,

You can try B&D wreakers in oakville or mikes auto parts.. they are who we deal with an have never had a problem... Oh and NEVER pay credit on a part before you see it. There is no reason for it. Milton auto wreakers is another good one to try!

  4. That's why i do all my own work. Only thing i paid for in the 3 years was my exhaust because i had it fitted and went from 2" to 2 1/4" with the high flow cat. Wow 1800 for a head gasket, i know it's 80% labour and 20% part on that thing but still. I would still pay more for a good alignment then go with a cheap toe and go alignment after a hit like this, your caster and cambers could be shot as well and that would be nice to know.

  5. As a mechanic i strongly suggest you take it to a shop and get an estimate done.. Most things you can get from a wreaker for cheap. Sounds like you may have bent your control arm and that causes the tire to Drag more instead of roll. This could be why you wreaked your spare tire. But I can't tell you exactly what is wrong.. your best bet it to get it looked at.

  6. Great job.. thou I am still wondering as to why they would even be allowed to change the charge of a ticket AFTER it's issued.. That's like issuing a speeding ticket to a car then charging them for J-Walking 2 weeks later because they saw you Littering. If Colbourg wasn't so far from me.. i would be there on the 19th. You have my support and way to go on the win!

  7. i believe the fifth wire is your brake disconnect....on my trailer if ever i reverse it disengages my surge brakes....ya might wanna reconsider goin to a four plug

You should have a 5 plug harness with a blue wire. the blue wire is for breaks and the 5th plug is reverse sensor.

  8. sounds right as the brown wires are usually tail lights. the white is the ground. Nissan wired up my moms 5 wire to 4 wire adapter and screwed it all up.. now i have to rip it apart and fix it.

  9. yeah they came to my house

2 seconds into it I knew it was a scam..but I played along somewhat...

they insisted I had to sign or I would not get gas anymore...I told him he was an idiot and it was the worst prepared scam I had ever heard...he yelled at me and said if I didn't sign I wouldn't get gas

I threatened to beat him to a pulp and said to him " you dumb (insert a dirty word here), I don't even have gas..we are on oil here"...ah good times..LOL

ouch.. yeah that's illegal and remind me never to get on your bad side :P

  10. I'm using spiderwire recluse brown, which is really hard to see (for me anyways) on my baitcaster and i'm using 15lb tracer Braid on my spinning real. Haven't had much luck with the braid compared to the spiderwire, but i have been using the spiderwire a lot longer. My Perch rod is set with normal 4lb clear mono and doesn't seem to have a problem with small bass and perch seeing it.

  11. Hey guys... fairly new to fishing (only fishing for small perch and bass in my youth) and I've been reading up on fishing, but it's not the same. Just wondering if anyone in the Burlington/Hamilton (and areas around there) area would like to get together for a bit of fishing and some teaching. Mostly interested in river fishing since there are a bunch of rivers in driving distance. I'll bring the beer :P

  12. My bro put his box down on some rocks and moved about 30 ft away while fishing.. when he got back his box was gone. He was lucky he only had about $100 bucks worth of stuff. Know how you feel and i hop you find the kid and while he runs from you runs into a car or tree.

  13. Working on various cars for a living, i can say it's a nice Jeep. Don't worry about the electronics as they are fairly simple compared to stuff like VW BMW and other cars. They do have mechanical issues that are costly to fix, as all Jeeps are. JTorra is dead on with his recommendation.. live it up under warranty then trade it in or sell it off. Jeeps are not nearly as good as they once were!
