I want to buy you a beer now lol. I am also a huge dog lover, my wife and I have 2 golden retrievers, and have adopted another dog that her mother stole from us. It was half great pyrenese/something else just showed up at our house one day. We put signs up for a month around the area and a radio add for a bit as well. No-one ever claimed him so we were going to keep the big guy, but then my wifes parents golden died of cancer and they wanted another one, so she stole him from us.
Thanks South Paw, having a beer for both of us(sorry you weren't here so I had yours too)
Dogs are Gods gift to us, We just need to accept and realize it!
All the Best to you and your inlaws,
Enjoy your furry "Kids"

Thanks Ive seen this story several times(always sent to me) YES I am a Dog lover!!!(and it always brings a tear to my eye EVERY TIME dammit)
have an Old Golden retriever that I attained as the owner left him in the store.
It went like this
The guy comes in with this dog(shaking and scared)thought he was going to crap on the floor, Dog runs in crawls under my desk(I hadn't had the pleasure of a dogs company in many years) and missed it so...
This is a New Car dealership.
Guy yells at dog
Dog shakes some more..
Guy says to dog, Fine you stay here then!! and leaves
What to do???
Take Dog home?
Old guy has been the best pal we ever had
Gotta lift him into bed every night(his hips are hurting)but I don't mind
Mine are too!
Wifes Best Friend, she's at home all day too.
He doesn't retrieve, he don't like to go for walks
Wants no part of getting in a car for a ride(never went back where he came from) so the car means (to him) he's going away again!
poor old guy is getting old, as am I.
Brought us more joy in life than we could ever hope for!
Guess things have a way of working out.
We needed him and he decided he would be happy with us,,, Been about 7 years now
Sorry to be so long winded....
But other Dog Lovers would understand...
Thanks Again

hey everypone,
just wondering if anyone had suggestions for cottages or resorts rentals for Thanksgiving weekend?
Even websites or small lakes or areas will help narrow down my search.
Was possibly thinking Couchaching or Muskoka.
My wife wants to go upnorth to spend a quiet weekend and enjoy some hiking in fall, and of course I would like to get away for a little fishing. I have a canoe so a small lake would be bette,r but I could always rent a boat.
Since I'll be spending the thanksgiving saturday with the inlaws it will only be two days (sunday and monday) A resort might be a cheaper otion because I'll have to pay the whole weekend for a cottage.
All suggestions and comments welcome.
thanks in adavce

Well last night I hit a doe... No damage to my truck (thank god for Fords metal bumper) other them a bit of fur... nothing wrong to the truck..
it was a decent sized doe, feeding @ an apple tree that is right beside the road (Low ditch where the apples collect when they fall..)Hence the deer collect here...
What are the rules when it comes to this? I do not have a hunting license.. but I do enjoy venison.
I was unsure what to do.. and had no room in the back of my pickup, given the hard one piece tonneau cover, and it being rammed with tools.
I did stop, inspected my truck, and made sure the doe was not suffering.
Nor do I know how to properly dress a deer...
So I was at a loss....
This morning the deer was gone... I assume someone has filled their freezer...
What should I have done in this case? knowing that I love a good feed of venison... would the meat even of been any good?
Thanks,
G.
I sell Fords!!
No F.A.C. required!

Hi folks, I came across this place early last week and have been reading threads and posts and finally decided to join. I am pretty impressed with how busy this forum is and how many really good fishermen are here and the quality of the information. I fish the same waters as Musky Mike in the Cornwall area, probably not as well as he does mind you but I hold my own.
I figured I'd start with introducing myself with a little cheesy video I made. I can't get any of my buddies to watch it so maybe I'll have better luck with people who are as nuts about fishing as I am, ha ha. I hope the video helps share the pleasure and satisfaction I get out of releasing fish. I release 90+ percent of my walleyes. I hope that if people come and fish our waters it will encourage them to do the same.
Cheers and nice to meet all of you! Jigs.
Welcome Jigs! Glad to know you!
Great video!!Loved It.
I release only 20% of my catch
The other 80% release themselves ............
Signed

Sorry its not fishing related , but I know there are a lot of dog lovers like myself on the board so I thought I might ask some experienced owners.
My kids (teenagers) have been on us to get a dog and I have been wanting one myself. After lots of discussion and research we are a step closer to deciding what breed. We have seen some Wheaten Terriers on our walks around the neigborhood and the kids get quite excited to say the least when they walk by.
Just wondering if anyone here has/had one , your thoughts and any breeder recomendations.
Thanks
Just get one of these guys
They love everybody
Edited Sorry I thought I attached a Picture of my Golden Retriever but appearantly I can't figure out how?
I'll let him try next, He's better at the computer than me!

Hey, I'm just looking for opinions on good fillet knifes?
Currently I use a Rapala plastic handle knife, which routinely goes on sale at Crappy T for 10$. Also I have a red plastic handled fillet knife which is about the same quality.
I suck at cutting through the rid cage(small eyes up to 5lb trout) with these knifes, and wonder if it's the knive or me? I'm pretty dam strong, but maybe I sissy out a little since I don't want to cut my fingers off? I wonder if a better quality knive might help. Something in the 50$ range?
I think I lose too much meat from the belly, since I don't cut right through the rib cage and cut it off after. I mostly go over the ribs, and loss meat when I don't cut back down fast enough. I fillet about 5-10fish per year, unless I'm up north with the guys(a couple of them are pretty terrible at it, so if I'm sober enough and the bugs aren't so bad, I'll do a few of theirs....they should get up early to fish for keepers not at the end of the night!).
Check out the Cutco website.
I've had one for 14yrs
Extendable blade, Sheath has small V notch so you can cut line etc. without taking knife out of it
Sheath also doubles as a "gripper"
Handle available in black or Blaze orange
Sheath also has sharpening stone
Last knife you will ever buy
Plus lifetime warrenty
Good Luck

Thank you so much for these pictures and the report.
I had the great oppertunity at the age of 25(read 1982) to go on a fly in moose trip to lake mojakit.
my hosts/ friends were all older than me by 20yrs avg.
I was a city boy from Toronto and had never experienced this before.
Needless to say, Lifetime bonds were made.
We caught many Pike and pickeral, plus ducks geese and almost any other critter(s) we could eat.
(no lodge and only so much room on the plane)
We also got our Moose!
Unfortunatly, over these last few years, I Am the only survivor of that trip that changed my life.
As I read your beautiful report and looked at the pictures, so many memories came flooding back.
It is with tears in my eyes(of joy and sadness) that I Write these words.
That week was the high point of my life(although I didn't fully realize it then)
But it is the only thing I ever want to talk about when I am with the Grandkids.
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this with us!!!!
Warmest Regards and may we cross paths someday!
You folks are the best!

I left a cooler at camp with some stuff in it on ice because I was planning on being back within a couple of days...plans changed and I didn't get up there for over a week. The cooler had some veggies and some cheese in there and now it stinks a little. It's not over-powering or anything...but there's a definite odor there if you stick your head right in and sniff.
It's a big five-day unit and wasn't cheap...I'd like to try to clean it out before I buy a replacement. I tried dish soap and warm water...it helped but it's not perfect. Anyone have any ideas? (Besides not leaving food in there for over a week.)
Thanks.
Put a bowl inside with a couple inches white vinigar, close and let sit 24hours.
Gets rid of skunk so it should take care of your problem

Here ya go !!
http://www.toller1.c...unkyourdog.html
As soon as you realize your dog has been sprayed by a skunk, don some rubber or latex gloves and old clothes and look her over for bites or scratches. Also check her eyes for redness or discharge. If any injuries are found, you should contact your veterinarian before proceeding.
Time is of the essence here - the longer you wait to begin the process, the harder it will be to remove the stench. Get set up for bathing your dog outdoors or in an easy to clean area of your home (laundry room, bathroom, etc). If indoors, open a window to save your nose!
Apply a small strip of eye lubricant (such as Puralube) or 1-2 drops of mineral oil to your dog's eyes. This will help protect the eyes in case any of the solution splashes or drips in.
In the plastic container, combine 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 to 2 teaspoons of liquid soap. Add lukewarm water if needed (for larger dogs). Mix ingredients well. The solution will fizz, as a chemical reaction is occurring. Use immediately - do not store.
Do not soak your dog with water prior to bathing. Promptly begin cleansing the affected areas thoroughly, massaging the solution deep into your dog's coat. You may wish to use a sponge or washcloth. Avoid getting the solution in the eyes, ears or mouth.
Allow the solution to remain on your dog for at least five minutes (longer if strong odor persists).
Rinse your dog well with lukewarm water. Repeat steps 3-5 as necessary until odor is gone.
Dry your dog well and give her a treat!
And if you need to get the stink out of the house, Set out several bowls with some white vinegar in them(just keep them high enough so dogs can't get at them)
This works and house will be skunk free in 24hrs.
I am speaking from experience!
Good luck!

Some of them are obvious (T.J. Quesnel and Roy ) but others aren't as clear so I figured it would interesting to see what they mean and why you chose it.
Rod Caster---just one amonst a series of silly fishing names I've come up with like Jim Jigger, Pat Poacher etc...

Ohhhh! I can taste that just by lookin at it
Excellent job my friend!
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did just looking at it!!!!

Bait??

I would recommend this as it will wash the cylinder walls of oil that a 2 cycle needs for lubrication.
Lube will be replenished as soon as engine running on supplied fuel(mix)
Before that only spark plug fouling and flooding will occur.
Lighter fluid will clean out fouling and supply PURE gas/naptha.
No added ingredients.
Worked for me for years
And made me the "Wizard"
Give it a try and let us know/

This engine runs very well ONCE it starts.
Getting it started after a few days of sitting is a challange.
No electric start but it would be nice to add it on.
My cuzz and I dont have the physical stamina to pull on it as we both have problems with backs and shoulders.

Do you remember the Red Fisher Show?

I had the Honor of meeting him and shaking his hand several times While working/volounteering for the OFAH in the '80's
We were right across from him at the Sportsman show.(he remembered my name) maybe because it was on my shirt... ?
It was the thrill of my life!
Glad I finally found an audience to tell this story to, Because the "Kids" at work just look at me like I'm from another planet.
I think I'll go look for my Binoculars now,,, Might be something left,,,
Oh, Yes I still have my Zebco Cardinal 4
'Cause Red said they were the best!
