  1. If you are in the Great Lake Region(Georgian Bay/Lake Ontario) the proper mapping card that will show the most detail and accuracy would be the Navionics Gold or Platinum Cards. May be worth to take a look at the Navionics Fish N Chip as well for greater detail on the Great Lakes!

  2. The Hotmaps Canada card does not have Georgian Bay. Just the inland lakes. The US Base Map that is built into the HDS units really does not show too much. Some lakes in Ontario are roughly outlined but that's about the best detail you get. The Navionics card is definitely a necessity in the HDS units for our area.

  3. I have 2 HDS5 units linked together via ethernat cable. They are great units. Trouble free and fairly easy to use once you get use to them. For mapping, the Navionics Gold or Platinum card are ideal for the Great Lakes and Trent System. For inland lakes(Kawarthas, Muskokas, Nipissing, Temagami, etc) the Navionics Hotmaps Canada is the card to get. Some of the Kawartha Lakes are in HD which means a lot more contour lines and other useful detail. With the rebate offer going on now, you can't go wrong with the HDS series. There are ice fishing packs that Lowrance makes specifically for the HDS series. Good Luck.

  4. If you are looking for a trolling motor with variable speed I would suggest looking at the Minn Kota Traxxis motor. The handle extends as well as pivots, and is going to be a whole lot better in the weeds with the weedless wedge prop that it comes with. Battery life is awesome too especially with the Maximizer feature that is incorporated in the motor. Here is a link to the Traxxis motor......http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/trolling_motors/freshwater_transom_mount/traxxis.aspx

  5. My two most productive panfish lures through the ice are the Buckshot Rattle Spoon by Northland and my very favourite the Jigging Rap in firetiger colour. Tip both of them with Berkley Powerbait Maggots. Won't go on the ice without them. Good Luck!!

  6. Got my renewal in the mail about 5 weeks ago. Sent a cheque in right away for the 3 year sport license and have not received the Outdoors Card as of yet!!!! Is it possible to get a temporary license on the MNR web site even though I have already sent in a cheque???? I should have just done it online!!! Thanks
