  1. Shimano now owns & distributes Loomis.

    Yes, quality has suffered.

Go with St.Croix, though for the money Fenwick HMX's are a heck of a rod.

yea the fenwicks are great!! even the highlander2 from canadian tire is great 4 value! very light i think 3.5 oz.. for 79.99 and the hmg are great to i used to have a ultra lite but it got stolen...

but il stick with my croix's amazing for money.

shimano owns loomis now.....better warranty but crappy service.. shimano are like car salespeople great when you buy the rod but the'' i dont give a crap'' after it broke....

  2. yea its true with the mercers magic thing.. that pissed me off to no end....i hope dave does not become like the others.i agree about the in-fisherman.. what happened to that... very good show. and another rant. the guy from fish tv ron james NEEDs to move the mike ferther from his mouth. his heavy breathing irritates me.

  3. the thing about shimano though... there more of a reel companie but i have yet to see them come up to par with their rods... i had a shimano cumara broke and sent it 3 times in 3 weeks(it was spinning). i LOVE my cumara 6'8 baitcaster though. easily comparable to a steez or loomis.

  4. excuse the grammar. as others have insulted me because its bad. im very french lol. Pike are very common in our ontario waters and are a prized gamefish and offer good tablefare. this topic is about a method that some anglers use to''calm pike down'': grabbing them by their eyes. a study has shown by doing this, you are damaging their optic nerves and blind them. use this method to pike that you intend to keep only! although a blind pike can survive by using his latteral line. a fish can use every advantage it can take.

so PLEASE dont do this to fish you intend to realease

    thanks

  5. and another thing.. i eat fish too. but a ''pro angler'' like him should be promoting c&r regardless. his whole darn show is promoting lodges( witch is good for the economy but common!) and his sponsors. he has not givin tips i think... ever. also his batter is crap, it does not stick like fish crisp.

  6. yea support to have more cos on the water and the field 100% yea he speaks his mind but sometimes we just dont want to hear it.... the time he spends complain he could be giving tips... you dont need much skill to catch walleye up north with live bait.... anyone could do that.

  7. actually yes ,i have bad grammar because i am very french and i dont care about typos. i am a member of ducks unlimited. ofah. muskeys canada. i helped raise walleye for local stocking( iwas responsible for 14000)

and i could not give a flying hoot if he was a member of OFC.. infact i want him to see this. i gave 6000$ of my tournament winnings to invasive species research and for the re-introducking of atlantic salmon( wiich i regret)

  8. i love my st croix rods i have 2 legend elites.. 7ft m xf spinning paired with sustain 3000 and 6'6 mh xf with core. also i have the legend tourny 6'3 walleye seiries and an 8'6 l tourny muskey rod with a abu reel. love em all. how do you guys like your loomis'

  9. he has nooooooo orientation in the fish.... walleye all the time! he hates on us ontarians for calling it pickeral! i dont know why he hates us on it! anyone can go on a guided trip in the middle of the bush and catch pickeral with a live minnow... it takes real skill to catch them with a crainkbait or grub on a pressured lake like what most other shows due

  10. i have been watching wfn for a few years now and im getting sick of cronzie... he belittles nonstop the mnr and he does not support catch and release, i even remember one episode were he said ''theres nothing like a good muskie fillet'' give me a break! yea lets ecourage the novice angler to eat muskie... he would be so hard to fish with.. he gets soojelous when the guide gets fish..(i get a good laugh outta that!).. he is so sponor orientated that he wouldent dare name something that ise'nt his sponor. darryl its time to throw in the towel buddy.. retire and give the timeslot to dave mercer or the fishn canada guys. i know your replies are going to be: then dont watch it.. i think we can all relate to this though.. dave is way more deserving that darryl. heck mike miller can make his own show instead of this guy.

  11. I was fishing on lake nipissing i was throwing a bucktail just for fun. i lost a bet so my buddy was workin the minnkota. i was rockin the boats arse. we were throwin on top of a shoal.. we had a few follows... until a monster... like i mean a 60 incher followed my cowgirl in i was not paying attention and dint figure8  as the boat moves foreward the prop slowly rotates causing a flash because its ss... the muskey propelled the propeller. it was nuts! it has a hold of it and held on for like 10 secs! i was considering using my livewell for a toilet after seeying that. i wanted to get that thing so i threw all i had.. tiger tubes.. bulldawgs. even buzzed cowgirls for another hour...nothin' but it was cool! B)

  12. hi patrick here,

i have been using senkos, zeros, stickbaits ...whatever you want to call them for a while now. i usally buy from strike king(zero) or gary yamamoto(senko) or even yum(dinger). as we know senkos arent the cheapest plastics on the market,so i started making my own. i have a mold and special plastic etc... i usally seal them in special ordered bags or ziplocks. we all know every bait company has their own scent like yum has lpt and berkley has powerbait and gulp and yamamoto i think has salt? i usaly spray my senkos in the bag so its like my little own bait. you can buy yum scent gulp scent powerbait the the 16 000 others. i was using strike kings patetented ''coffee'' scent tubes and they were hot! i was wondering, can you grind up some normal coffee beans and put them on your bait. i noticed strike king is one of the only ones who dont sell the scent on its own. has anyone tried this? a bonus is that if you spill a little bait on the boat carpet it will smell like coffee and not like @$$. ;)

    thanks and good fishing!

  13. Hello all! MY name is patrick and this is my first post on your fabulous site. I am 16 years old and an avid fisherman.(not your typical 15 year old). I have a very important issue to talk about and feel free to speak freely about this... before you start calling me racist i am i 5th generation native... so heer it is.The natives are destroying our fisheries!! i dont want to sound like derryl cronzy by any means(LOL) but its true. I was shocked during late april and early may when i saw natives netting walleye during the spawn act. This is against the ethnics of fishing. infact its not even fishing, its killing. you should have seen the walleye they pulled up! hundreds if not thousands of pounds of walleye. As if netting walleye during the spawn was not enough they got pike too. THEY SHOT THE PIKE ON SHORE AND LEFT THEM THERE. this was encluding a 43 inch trophie. let me be the first to say that the nets dont discriminate between a 12 pound trophy walleye or a 2 pound eater. in the open water nets, they have brought up the rarest fish in zone 10. the muskie.. and yes lots of them.. on this particular day it was on nippising. have you noticed the decline on fish populations on the nip? i sure have. and what does the MNR do? the put a smaller slot size on the nipfor the regular angler and not a weight cap for the natives. They dont eat all their fish either. they sell them illigally to people and markets. we fisherman are trying with our foremost efforts to save our fish only for it to be ruined my the netters.by all means i am not racist.. but common! half the nets they have are infested with zebra mussles and it wont be long until the zebras will be a permanent residence in our native and treasured lakes.

    something needs to be done.

sorry for the negative first post lol.. had to get this off my chest...

    Patrick
