  1. I have found that nail polish does not hold up very well. Bouncing across rocks and such will chip the polish off pretty quick.

But... it's cheap and lots of colors available these days. And, it dries in minutes. You can keep a selection of colors on the boat with you. ;)

Yea until the co comes by and sees it. LOL. Wouldnt that be something.

  2. we have a 2008 ford king ranch f-150 and the only problem was the front caliper ceased on us. they fixed it in no time. Chevy makes a good truck. We love our ford. chevy has a 5.3l vortex wich is unstopable.( we have a 97 blazer 4.3 vortex and it has 300.000+ km on it) ford has a 5.4 triton with the best low end tourque of all trucks in its class. both have nice style. You cant go wrong. We have a pontiac g6 witch is a great little car . toobad pontiac went under...

  3. I love Stradics, I've got a bunch and use them all the time.

But if you're looking for a reel with similar carbon fiber components, plus the largest spool in the market (means longer casts).

Take a look at these reels. They're cheaper than the Stradics and imo better:

I have heard bas things about these reels. I heard the quality was missing. But thats just people from basspro opinion.

  4. Pat I had you pegged for a real mans reel.....the baitcaster. lol. Here we go tiller/console. Spinner/ baitcaster....No lets not go their now.

I did get a few new TICA baitcasters recently to add to the arsenal and their are even a few people up North who have seen the quality firsthand. If anyone wants a reel that I feel is a level above the abu's give them a look see they are a very good bang for the buck.

I just got a new revo premier off of ebay if that makes you feel better lol :P . Shimanos core IMO is overpriced. the revo premier weighs 6.3 oz holds 145 yds of #12. core is 6.1 oz hold 110yd 12#. i picked the revo up for 175 usd. with ship and exchange it came out to 215$ not bad for a 315 dollar reel(can$).THe core is 450 at my local store.( i know this particular store is overpriced)... But why pay an extra200+ $ for 0.2 oz less? I could just imagine what the core 50 mg holds.. 25yds of 10# lol. The revo has hcpr bearings wich bloe the ss bearings of the core out of the water. Abu has 6 core has 5. I am not biased in any way but this is just my opinion. I have it paired up with my cumara 6'8. Insane lite.

  5. Well, i feel sorry for whoever bought the stradic mgfb for a lite weight stradic! A new model came out at ICAST called the stradic Ci4. It has carbon gears and all... it only weighs 6.1 oz!!! Thats like a daiwa steez! It only cost 199 vs the 229 for the mgfb. Its cool looking too. The only thing though in my mind, the gears would be weak because they are carbon fiber instead of brass or nickel. here are some pics.

  6. ummmm. #1 why put a 4000 size reel on a 6'6? mabea a 2500 or 3000 max. And shimano has been lacking quality lately. broke 3 cumaras on 3 trips. Traded for some st croixs. My stradic was acting up. I sent it to bud benwell in peterborough, first he lost my reel in his inventory, then he sent me back a reel all scratched up. Im sorry that is not acceptable when you pay 200 bucks for a reel. I used to be a curado fan. I recently bought a revo premier from abu. INSANE reel. Only 100 bucks more. You get 200 bucks more value. When you buy shimano, you pay 100 bucks for the name. With brands like abu or pflueger you pay for the item.

  7. he might be referring to the fact that the us coast guard rates boats for larger motors than the Canadian coast guard

so the same boat that can have a 150 in cnd can have a 175 in the us......must be the exchange rate

yea why is that??!! why do us canadians half to be the slowest to the honey hole :P If anyone watches next bite tv, they have a 300 verado. I think the max canadian is a 90 elpto. lol jk but I think its 250 on the tracker 21 ft tundra.?

  8. I'm sure you mean "we", since your Dad will be the one paying. ;)

lol yea. Thats not bad since I spent half my darn wallet on a terrova from minnkota. He din't want it, but i did so i bought it :thumbsup_anim: . I Have not mounted it yet but im sure the autopilot will be worth the money. We have a 55 thrust <_< . Not enough power in heavy winds. we got a 101 this time. Heck i think it will get the boat on plane :thumbsup_anim: Jk

  9. Yea thats what i mean. The e-tecs have been soooooo unreliable is not funny. So much for 3 years no service and no break in period... The reason that i want a 175 on a 150 rated boat is beacuse I DID the us coast guard calculations with the keel and beam etc... it came to 176... But for insurance purposes I was thinking to stay with a 150. I dont think I will be going with etec anymore. I talked to my local marine shop and theey said 30 % of the sold etecs came back with a blown powerhead etc. Thats too much.I wish merc would come out with a 150 pro xs. They have a 115 pro and a 175 pro. What the hell lol? most boats in the 1750 to 1850 range are 150 max. But since I have all the yamaha riggings and gauges, The vmax would be good choice. Their in the middle of the pack. Until e-tecs Find their main problem wich is blown powerheads, I will not buy them.

Any other suggestions? I heard suzuki was a good motor. Correct me if im wrong but i think they have a LPDI (low pressure direct injection) I think its dumb but what do i know.

  10. The 2 stroke smoke has brained your damage!!!... better check into rehab now!!!

Let something happen to that boat rated for a 150 with a 175 on it and see what the insurance company has to say aboot it!

... quit sniffin' the 2 stroke smoke and sober up boy!!

E-tecs are not suppost to smoke. Yea about the insurance thing... No comment. I think I'l sober up by cooking up some green beans and carrots from the steam off of my 4stroke. Thats another thing lol. When a treehugger sees you at the dock after a hard run when your motor steams, he will say a stupid comment like '' yea put another hole in the ozone''. thats when my dad starts the kicker and we have both steamin away lol :thumbsup_anim:

  11. C'mon... admit it... you're mentally challenged! <_<

Only an Idjit Galoot would consider going back to a 2 stroke after owning a 4 stroke!

You kind of remind me of the "not-so-bright" folks around here that refer to Sauger as Jack SaLmon.

Lol. Yea we like our fourstroke. I dont get the point of them. I know you fourstroke guys will get mad at this but fourstrokes are overated. They might be quiet and somewhat reliable, but they are slow and heavy. A 2stroke has a power stroke everytime. A fourstroke has one every second time thus creating half the tourque. We dont need a quiet motor to troll...We have a 9.9 pro kicker for that. Are motor only hits 45 mph <_< . Now,before you guys say''well the prop is not rite,or it is set to high or low on the transom. We have a jackplate and an ss prop that hits 5950 rpm WOT. We want that scream, and feel like your riding a shotgun.. Are boat is rated for 150 hp. After i did the calculation from the us coast guard it says we should have a 176.5 hp motor. So a 175 would be at best. After all Its whoever gets to the spot first rite!

click the youtube link and you will know what im talking about lol.

The fourstrokes are quiet, and a sip better on gas then the hpdi motors.. Thats it.

    thanks guys.

  12. we have e-tec's on our large pontoon at work. i find our yamaha's have outperformed them both on the water, and in the reliability department. they always start easy and run smooth, and this is with HEAVY hours of operation...

personally i've always been a merc man myself, but these new yammy's might be changing my mind.

what kind of yamahas? fourstroke, carbed 2stroke,hpdi?How many hp?

  13. Hey guys, we are looking to repower our walleye boat. We have a 150 yamaha fourstroke from 2001. we wanted 2stroke direct injection power this time. I have heard some mixed reviews about the e-tec. Some have said the powerhead blows up! Some others have said they will never go back to another brand. Have any of you guys or girls had any good or bad issues with the e-tec? Another option is the optimax from merc. Now this is a good motor but is alot louder than the etec. I know many of you use the opti. How do you like it? The third and final option would be a hpdi from yamaha. Has anyone used the vmax? I dont need to worry about trolling at slow speeds because we have a kicker.

    thanks guys,

  14. My Father-in-law bought a brand new Suzuki 2.5 hp 4 stroke outboard this winter. We've been using it at camp the last couple of weeks and I'm really happy with it. The one thing that could be better is it's minimum speed. It trolls a little fast for my liking even at lowest throttle. It doesn't stall, but it's just not slow enough. Anyone know if there's any way to slow this puppy down a bit? I could try a dfift sock or some simular type arrangement but that seems like a pain in the butt.

there should be an idle screw that controles the amouth of gas to the piston. get a macanic to do it or if you are familiar with outboards do it yourself. i had to do it on our portaging outboard a yamaha 4hp 4stroke. runs real slow. a drift sock will slow you down but can be a pain when you got a cow on and you get tangled with it.

  15. Never used to be pike in Depot either. They were in McCarthy, the next lake down. Once they got into Depot, they had access right up through the system.

wow thats wierd. i alwase thought pike where native to depot... we actualy targeted them on depot. have you ever been to ten mile lake north of dunlop.. i heard it was good fishing for lakers. requires a little portage though.

  16. Lots of good fish in Dunlop. I don't fish it myself simply because it gets too much traffic to suit me. It is one of very few lakes in the area that has walleye and they were stocked many years ago by the local fish and game club.

For sure, don't eat lakers out of Quirke Lake, it's illegal. Lakers in there are strictly c & r and have been for years now.

For sure don't bother fishing for walleye in Elliot Lake, there are none. There was some talk some years ago about stocking them there but nothing ever came of it. I'm sure if anyone took a walleye out of there, it would hit the local papers.

Pike have spread all through the Marshland River system and I don't know that they were accidentally stocked. Could have been a high water year that allowed them to get over the falls at McCarthy or maybe some eggs were carried in by herons. Who knows? Folks have been catching them from this system for 10 or 12 years now.

forgive my booboo. they where illegally stocked from depot. not ''accidently''

  17. What he said about Halfway Lake, for example, is right on. I've fished there. You might see lots of hooks deep down but you won't get many bites when you see that.

A tornado touchdown did mess up the place pretty bad a few years back.

If he got any more specific, people would be cranking on him for that. Let's assume he knows what he's talking about and has been willing to share. When I was his age, I knew a hell of a lot about what worked and what didn't on a number of lakes and rivers too.

thnks for backing me up holy smokes some people can be ignorant. i might be only sixteen but how many sixteen year olds do you know who has over 23 000$ in tournament winnings and has a scholarship to mcmasters u?And has a part time job as a macanics assistant(laid off for now:( )

Are you sure you want to continue giving advise on lakes that you have stated earlier you don't get time to fish because both your parents work. Most of the advise you have given is general and has no bases other than what has been posted here and on other forums. Google is a wonderful tool but give it credit when you use it......

holy smokes are you kidding me... i want to help people out and they still bash me. every thing i have stated is 100% honest self opinion and found out.

i have been fishing all my life and have been going steady for 2 times a week for 4 years now. what do you have against me?
