  1. Opener day I HATE, but anytime after the monday following opener is what I am waiting for. I hate fishing when the river is a zoo. I have no problem sharing the river with others but sharing it with thousands of others is not my cup of tea.
  2. When I am not on the river fishing I am spending all my time looking up info online about fishing and I know I am addicted when everytime I drive over or by a river I can't help to look over at it and it has almost caused me to get into an accident before.
  3. What are your top couple of patterns that are your go to patterns when fishing up on the Grand River for browns? My top two would be a Flashback PT Nymph and a Hendrickson.
  4. What about any links on the net of any downloaded past shows, especially Fly Fishing ones would be great. Having trouble finding any.
  5. Thanks for your input and I am sure to use it towards making my decision. Take care and hope you all have a great season on the river or lake.
  6. I am looking at getting a new reel for an 8Wt set up for Steelhead fishing and have broken it down to: VELOCITY 3 3.50" 1.20" 5.80 oz 7,8 WF7 150 yds 20# OR VELOCITY 3.5 3.75" 1.30" 6.25 oz 8,9 WF9 200 yds 20# Also, I might have to go with the cheaper model of the the two, so here are my other two choics: RADIUS 3 3.17" 1.05" 5.0 oz 7,8 WF7 150 yds 20# OR RADIUS 3.5 3.50" 1.20" 5.8 oz 8,9 WF9 200 yds 20# Not sure which one to go with? If you had to choose one Velocity and one from the Radius list which would you go with? How much backing do I really need? Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. Maybe I should just break it down to the fact that I am looking at two different rods. 1) A-5 9' 7Wt. 2) A-5 9' 8Wt. I would like it mostly for Steelhead but I would like it for some smallmouth as well since my 6Wt. has some trouble throwing large streamers. This rod is a medium-fast action and was wondering if I decide on the 7Wt, should I get 8Wt line or 7Wt line? Please help make my choice a little easier. Everyone so far thanks for your comments but I should of been more specific.
  8. Looking to see what people use in regards to fly rods for places like Whiteman's Creek and other smaller creeks for Brookies and small Rainbows and Browns. I am not sure if a 2Wt is to light and a 3Wt would be a better selction? Also what length of fly rod is used in these tighter quarters type fishing, 6',6'6",7' or7'6"? Thank you in advance for all responses. If there is any specific rod that you may suggest please include.
  9. I would like to get a Steelhead fly rod and reel and was wondering if more people use a 7Wt or 8Wt for Steelheading. If there are any big differences such as the 8Wt would be better if your throwing larger Streamers, etc. could you please add your input on the reason for your selection. Take care and thanks in advance for anyone and everyones input. If this helps, I would be mostly fishing 80% of the time on the Maitland and Bayfield river.
