  1. Excellent report. Been with Hearst more times than I can count. Try to get there every other year. Just booked Wanzatika for 2017. We did Martison last year for the first time! Yes it can get difficult but they do turn on, beauty place! We found numerous large pike once it was on.
Did you get over to the other lake? We had amazing luck over there with nice chunker walleyes.

Caught a great show of the nothern lights while we were there too!northern lights Martison.jpg

  2. Assuming you're boating... If the ice permits you can use the public launch at the end of Collins Rd/Smith's Bay. From there boat into the narrows, 2 small bays over and you'll see the perch in the marina's. If the ice isn't open enough yet Blue Beacon has a pay launch and I know they're open. As long as you don't tie up to their docks you're usually ok to fish in the marina areas, just respect the owners!

Use minnows and tight lines! Or even when they're barely biting a rapala ice fishing jig is guaranteed to get you a few with a little finesse! They might just bump it but best part is there's a hook right there! Just keep jigging. Be sure to keep one each to bring in for the daily draw. And you must register before hand... @ Trombley's, Tudhope even Blue Beacon has registration forms.

    Best of luck!

  3. Excellent report! I'm glad you had such an amazing trip.

I have the luxury of being good friends with Mel and the family at Hearst Air and can never say enough great things about their business and this type of fishing excursion.

I strongly recommend more fathers and families to do these types of fishing adventures with their children. It's what memories are made of ...and no better people to do it with than Mel, Mike and those members of Hearst Air.

I wasn't sure how soon to take the boy up there but you've definitely inspired me to start making those memories. They do last a lifetime!

  4. Would appreciate any info pro or con on fishing in late May to Early June on Lake Biscotasing. 600 plus miles of shoreline and over 400 islands with the surrounding structure they should have sure sounds interesting! Thanks in advance.

Headed up next week. Would appreciate any communication on your catches. Hot spots?

  5. Just got back from SNOWFARI! 1 day early even. Almost 2, didn't wanna miss the superbowl on his supplied TV!

Yes I'm a new poster but have checked this site out a lot. Been fishing in Ice Bungalows on Nipissing 4 times w/ 4 different operators. Just never had a reason to post til now.

Even emailed them the old thread, with my questions and concerns. They said it was a 1 or 2 time thing.

Everything the old thread said is true. I would never go back. I even got into an arguement with the guy. I don't need to disect in sentace form. here's the pt form details:

    Sleeper Huts, very nice!

    Service, very poor.

Communication- rare, mixed & missed by him.

Transportation (as quoted) - non existent.

Bungalow Location, worst ever!!! 2- 2 inch perch caught, 4 days 5 guys!

Minnows supplied- 1.5 dozen, for 5 people.

Day huts ($) - terrible. no seats, okay buckets, awkward, cold, lit myself! (did catch fish though!)

Got stuck with both our jeeps when we were sent on our own to the day huts and the guy almost left us out there, then the arguement ensued!

Renting a day hut wasn't exactly what I had planned or prepared for.

    Jer on pg 3 of:

    says it best!

This guy definately leaves to question the point of a bungalow on the ice. Coulda got a hotel for cheaper then played his day hut game.

    DON'T GO!!!
