Exactly Kemp.. they are breaking the law by blocking highways, railways and every other mode in between. Anyone else would be handcuffed and drug off to the clink.
So true
Double standard or what

Here is a question that I have heard a few times.
Can the MNR change the regulations without a sitting Parliament?
What I'm saying are the new limits valid?
-
They do? I haven't heard them say that on Nipissing since earlier this season. I'm talking about official public warnings. Sometimes they release those on the news etc.
BB: well, from what I understand, if you are found to be driving reckless, DUI etc, they might initially cover you, but will turn around and sue you and recover their monies if you are found guilty. Or the third party could be suing yourself and not the insurance company.
I'll check with my sources again today, I'd like to get a straight answer about the ice driving and all the implications as well.
I believe they will issue warnings about bad ice but never say " The ice is safe" just not say anything when it is.

Just a reminder but all of zone 11 is closed until the 3rd Saturday in May.

We here at Nipissing are above normal for this time of year, which is about a foot higher the last July,Normals for this time of year are about a foot lower then summer levels and my prediction to what is flowing into Nipissing this spring is we may end up with near flood conditions in about a month from now.

My Thermometer reads 98.6 f most of the time, and the sun does'nt shine there!

Rectal therm's work great the colder the water the tighter the grip!

They say the river spawning walleye is just ended. The walleye that spawn on the shoals and along the shoreline should be done about a week later, ice is off and water levels are climbing fast slightly above normal.
Hope this helps anyone, Jeff

Yes everything in Bisco is pricey except the lcbo stuff. Minnows are the best bait up there but also pricey, bring your own trap there are lots of places to trap.

The satilite images show the lake is froze right across. From my dock all I see is pack ice as far as I can see. We are going to need a good rain to help smooth it out. I will try and get a photo tomorrow. Walked out 100 yards today 5-6".It froze as the wind just kept blowing in more slush.

When I was a kid my father would sink a poplar tree in the summer out in front of the family cottage on Georgian Bay, it woud hold the leaves all season and all we had to do was as kids was row out about 100' and catch perch all day. Hard to find poplar with leaves in winter though.

I have a 15hp kicker 4 stroke on my boat which allows me to run it from the main fuel tank and not have to carry an extra tank, the only problem is if I run out of fuel it is no help (speaking from experience) I don't want to bash any motor brand, but some of the ones I run (imports) have very expensive parts and some times long back orders.
BUY NORTH AMERICAN!

For those who have been praying for rain in the Nipissing area......I think we got your rain by mistake.
We got a little water in the basement this morning through a crack in the cellar wall but nothing a little wet vacuuming and mopping couldn't handle....but in 29 years here that the most I have ever seen in my basement. However, the Nation Weather Service reports 2.72 inches in the last four days and more coming.... ...wish it would of went north to you guys or did you get some also...

I wish the weather office up here has recorded .47 of an inch in the last 4 days.

This is my theory from observing for a few years. First in South bay area in the shallows where the water warms sooner then the main part of the lake. The shadfly likes to hatch in about 67 degree temps. Hunters bay and Fish bay normally see hatch's around the middle of June about 2 weeks before the main lake hatch in the deeper water, but they seem to be starting now because of the early season. What I have learned is that to be successful with walleye during the shadfly season is to fish the areas of the lake that are not experiencing a hatch. Hope this helps Jeff.

Hey SandyBay,
How big is the beach this year? Must be huge! Any water by the big dock?
Still trying to decide if we'll be coming up with the big Stanley this year. Differing schedules mean that I cannot commit to anything.
Mike G.
Hi Mike
Lots of beach to rake this year. You can do it with your Stanley I put mine in yesterday and I have it docked my my usual spot. Its about 18" below normal levels for August.

The upper French is the same as Nipissing. about 60 cm below average.

Well the yardstick that I nailed to the side of my dock back in the middle of April says no rise at all. Unless I nailed it to a floating dock LOL.
