Big smallies in Georgian, as per my avatar. I'm heading to the exact area you are thinking about camping on Sunday and just came back from there 2 weeks ago. Another spot you should try is called Gin Islands, you could spend a whole day fishing them, they are close to GB provincial park. Send a pm (private message) and I will give you more details on lures and areas. Cheers

There have been reports of black cougar sightings in Southwestern Ontario for years, London along Thames River. First I've heard of sightings in that area...

Wow...I've been flip flopping on committing to this kind of trip, you may have just tilted the balance. Crazy! Now, how to tell the wife the Caribbean is out this coming year...

Heavy braid, no leader?

This is what my fishing buddy uses http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-Boat-Bags/product/10205325/ and just adds Plano boxes of various sizes, boat gets wet, he has one of those triumphs? that are made of moulded plastic...

I wish people would keep more carp. Whether they eat them or not I could care a less. Just get them out of my bass water!
Agreed! You couldn't pay me to eat a carp! The type of water and areas they come from and all that bottom feeding, not to mention the age of the fish, gross. I could make skunk taste good if I rolled it fish fry and sunk it in pot of oil, doesn't make it good or good for you.

Could have been a Greenland Shark, i think theyre in the st. lawrence
I know those are around Nova Scotia waters so that would be a long way up the river for that beast. I'm thinking Musky or Sturgeon. Any rumors of St Lawrence monters in its waters?

I keep seeing these reels in a package at Canadian Tire or Walmart. Are these reels any good? I heard that they can't compete with reels made by Daiwa or Shimano. The one I saw is a Quantum Snapshot. Also, it has a clip near the bail arm (some reels have it, some don't). What the heck is the purpose of that clip near the bail arm? I always get my lines tangled because of that thing.
Oh, and another thing, is it taboo among serious anglers to buy inexpensive packaged fishing reels at these stores?
Don't bother, I bought two of those from Canadian for my nephews, junk! If you are going to buy from there stick to a low end Shimano

Berkley XT lo-vis green for me, gives me the most confidence. The xt holds up to rubbing on rocks and wood better than the xl, may not cast as far on my spinning but not by much.

Doesnt Kaberle have a no trade clause in his contract?? The only way he gets shipped at the deadline is if he wants to leave, which is something that he doesnt want to do unles maybe he wanted to play for a play off bound team. Burke probably didn`t trade him because nobody offered him two first round picks for him LOL. Trading 3 picks (2 first rounders) for a player coming of a shoulder surgery was just stupid. Every time he takes a hit I bet every leafs fan cringe and dies a little. "Playoffs?! Don't talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs?! in Jim Mora`s voice hahah
and Marko is the winner he will only go to a handful, if that, of teams he wants play for come the deadline, but go he will because it would be cheap insurance for a team that might go deep in the playoffs and that team will cough up more than he's worth in draft picks....and so it has been said here first

op, do you have a weight on this and are just testing our perception, or are you looking for an estimate because you aren't sure?
For reference I thought this one was easily 5 lbs when I caught it but weighed in just shy...
I'm 5' 10" and not holding it out all that far (I know it looks it).
Just curious about people's perception, 4 plus 2 was mine
-
we need to know the weight and what does the winner get lol
Harrison nailed it dead on, 4 plus 2
-
Yeah, maybe YOU'RE 6ft but how tall is the dude in the pic?
We are but one dude...
-
I'd say 4.
Only problem is, over the weekend I saw a picture that was supposed to be "an 8lb+ fish", but I called it out as a good 5+.
And you EC1 have illustrated my point exactly, "suppose to be" and you're right
-
12lbs easy!!!!!
so you're the guest angler on one of those shows!
-
for reference how big is the dude in the pic?
6 ft, 210

There are two types of Large Mouth in North America, the Northern Largemouth and the Florida Largemouth. The Florida sub-species grows much faster than the northern (what we have here is the northern).....
and the weight?
-
Where's the "pic"???
not sure why it didnt post the first time nor am I sure why it posted it twice, so guessitmate weight on the first fish
-
-
Let's talk size. We all know American's exagerate the size of the bass they catch on some of the WFN shows and of course haven't we all about the one that got away. I just want to see what your perception of weight is of a commonly caught fish like a largemouth. How much?
See pic below first response

I know I'm late to this thread , it's been a few years since I've been on this site, forgot how much I enjoyed it, I'll make it a habit again.
BANANAS will bring the fish into a frenzy like chumming, I've snorkelled in the Caribbean numerous times and for whatever reason they go...wait for it....bananas for them. Have a a line in and use bananas for chum, fish up to 5 lbs will come in, hook a smaller one and toss it out for a Cuda.
