  1. I’m in the same situation but I’m looking at a fish n ski boat.  The 2005 225 I’m looking looking at has 185 hours but dealer maintained, he paid For the diagnostic report. Seems like the kinda person that’s stay on  top of things. The onther one is a 2005 Stratos 486 150 with only 50hours but they guy doesn’t know his boat and doesn’t maintain at a dealer/marina   I’m leaning towards the the 225 as crazy as that sounds sounds. EITHER way I’ll have a mechanic look at it. That’s a deal breaker for me. HAVING A hard time  WTH yhe app sFOR SOME REASON I’ll post aha in once the once worked out worked out

  2. Still looking for a Nitro fish n ski. So far the good boats go in the matter of hours and lots of junk out there. I ran into a guy two months ago that brings them up from South Carolina. Well he’s back with more boats and they are well priced. He says he has documtaion for duties at the border so id assume the boats clean from the US side. I’ve looked into licensing a boat for the first time in Canada and seems simple. Anything I should look out for on this transaction?  I’m having a mechanic look the 07 150 mec.

  3. My bass boat has three seat and pulls a tube for the kids. Problem now is I have 4 under 8 years old and is getting crowded lol. Love my boat but ready for something bigger. Nitro line seems like the best compromise for the next 10 years

  4. 100% John. Seems to be a lot more popular of a style south of the border. Probably still save a few dollars. I am just worried about making an 8 hour drive for a boat that’s not what it seems.

  5. Hi guys, still looking for a new to me boat. I’ve narrowed my search down to the Nitro sport 189,288 or 290 years 2000-2013. I’ve ran into a lot of characters and junk so far this year but hopefully my patience pays off. I like the deeper v on the 290 but the seating arrangement of the 189. I read on the web that these boats aren’t great for fishing or skiing but a good hybrid. Anyone have experience on either of these models?  I’ve done most of my searching on Kijiji that seems to have the most results, FB market place, all classifieds and auto trader which seems to have very little postings?  Am I missing any good search sites.

    Thanks again and always

    Steve

  6. Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. From what I’ve read so far it’s $250 to have someone clear the title in the states. Bill of sale and proof of sales price that I have through messaging. Duty’s are free because the boat is built in North America?  Just HST?  I read duty is 9% if made outside North America

  7. So I’ve been in the market for a fish and ski and have ran into some colourful characters so far and never a straight forward transaction. So the one I’m looking at now is a US boat being sold in Canada. So if I go to obtain a pleasure craft licence with a bill of sale am I going to have to show proof of duties being paid on the boat? Any way I can look up to confirm the boat is not stolen from the US Indian to be exact.  I know this all sounds like a bad idea. This whole process should be fun but has been nothing but stress

  8. Thanks for the reply’s guys. Looked at it today and seemed a little to risky for me. The boat Just came up from US, motor had a miss match bottom and top end yada yada just didn’t feel right.  Looking at a clean looking 2010 boat now with a 150, under 100hrs and looks really well taken care of. I should know Tuesday if I can make a deal.
