  1. Let me start by saying this Air Ivanhoe is a good choice i have been going on fly in trips for the last 19 years 7 of those trips were with Air Ivanhoe 4 trips into Shawmere lake outpost camp 1 trip into Lemoine lake outpost camp 1 into Katagi lake and 1 trip into Bonar lake North camp.Out of the 4 trips into Shawmere 3 were the first week of June and the other was mid September the other 3 camps were all fished in mid September in my opinion i consider early June and mid September to be prime time for walleye with that being said all of our trips with Air Ivanhoe were very successful with good numbers of walleye being caught and the Pike fishing as well was very good especially on Shawmere.

The Theriault family have been in the outfitting business for many years they will treat you right good luck on your trip into McConell lake

  2. Well the time has come for me to take my Grandson on his first ever fly in fishing trip i always promised him when he turned 10 i would take him along  i have been on many fly in trips over the last 19 years with many great outfitters through out the province that being said i decided to book a trip with Glassy Bay Outfitters  out of Elliot Lake they also operate Moose Territory Lodge out of Quebec we will be  flying into Middle Bark Lake Outpost Camp June 6th to the 13th For Walleye and Northerns  and  this will be a short drive from home to the air base only 3 1/2 hrs as i live 20 minutes North of Parry Sound any way just wondering  if anyone in the community here has dealt with this Outfitter if so how was your trip.

Didn't know about this....... really sad news.

My Dad (now passed) and I rode this Beav for his 2nd fly-in trip (2003, I think) - he rode shotgun and (of course) loved it.

Thoughts out for family and friends.

that's a tragedy, the pilot looks so young

the wreckage doesn't look bad, it's a shame those kids lost their lives

Yes it sure is Chris it has got to be tough on the outfitter to get through the rest of the season after such a tragedy i have flown on that beaver a few times into some of the Air Dale camps.

  5. Wow that is crazy Chris have been on quite a few fly ins and that would not sit very well with me Flying at that altitude, if i remember correctly on my first ever fly in out of Nakina i had all kinds of questions for the pilot as it was my first time in a float plane and i was in the the co pilot seat, we had a very low ceiling that morning and i had asked him if we would be flying below the low cloud cover, he said yes we are going to give her a go and he said as long as we are flying no lower than 500 ft all will be good so I am assuming that was the lowest altitude they were allowed to fly.

  6. I fished out of Air Ivanhoe and I gotta tell you, George has a 1st class operation compared to some of the places we have been. It's been about 10 years now but I'm sure George is still treating customers as family. Good to hear you have a great time.

Your are right Mr.G the Theriault Family at Air Ivanhoe do run a first class operation I have done a few Fly ins with them over the years at different Outpost Camps and have never been disapointed with there service or the Fishing.

  7. This year's annual Fly In was with Air Ivanhoe out of Foleyet Ontario, on September 8th-15th. My brother and I have fished this Lake in the past and always had great success. We left early Thursday morning and made it to the Air base by 1:30 in the afternoon. The plan was to spend the night at the Lodge and Fly out Friday morning. As we were sitting in the Lodge and making the final payment for the trip, our pilot Joel Theriault offered to fly us in that afternoon so we unloaded the truck got our gear weighed and before you knew it we were on our way to Shawmere Lake. It was nice to Fly in that afternoon as this allowed us to get everything set up in camp and get out for an early fish Friday morning. This camp has been closed for the last 2 years and just reopened June 30th of this year and has seen extensive renovations such as a big screened in porch running water at the sink and a shower and vanity and the camp is now all run on solar power with an Inverter and 12 volt batteries and a 3000 watt generator it even has a small freezer. Now to the fishing we caught a good number of walleye everyday under very tough conditions warm temps and bright sunny skies with no wind and as an added bonus we got in to a few nice Northerns. This lake has an abundance of Walleye in the 16 to 17 inch range we only got a few that were over 18 to 20 inches which is fine by us as we are not Trophy guys it is all about the numbers all and all it was another great trip I would like to Thank the Theriault family and there staff at Air Ivanhoe for another great trip.

  8. 9. Never have last year on our way out of Camp we had to unload the Otter which had a full load of lumber for the new deck that was being rebuilt and on all our Fly in Trips we always help with the unloading of the plane with the new group coming into the Outpost camp anyway i hope you and your Son have a great trip Cliff.

  10. Good for you glad to see you are enjoying life I love that area have fished many lakes off the 101 Hwy and Moose hunting as well I know the feeling my wife and I also relocated almost 12 yrs ago from the Niagara area to North of Parry Sound hundreds of lakes to explore and Georgian Bay in itself is an awesome fisheries that being said I am still looking forward to our yearly treck up the 144 hwy to the 101 for our annual Fly in fishing trip.

  11. Well Cliff you sure started your planning off right for this trip by getting in touch with Mike he has helped me out a lot when I needed to make a decision on certain outpost camps that I wanted to fly into as for Meal plans you will figure that out your self and since you and your son are not big drinkers do not worry to much about making your weight a good outfitter will not charge you for being a little over with that being said I hope you and your son have a great trip and just a little warning it may not be your last Fly in they can be very addictive my Dad took me on my first Fly in back in 2002 and I have been hooked on them ever since my brother and I will be going on our 15th Fly in trip this September.

    Cheers Mitch
