I have a Thermacell and must say that it is AWESOME.
-
Wow!
Nice one indeed.

I'll see you guys out there. I was hoping to hit up canal and Dalrympal the next two days
Was talking to my folks (who live on the lake) and they said the ice is gone...
-
How's the access from the west side of the lake? Is there still plenty of ice?
I am planning some ice fishing for 'family day' and don't want to drive all the way there for nothing...
How's the perch bite?
-
I have 2 Stradic 1000's and love them!!!
Ditto.

I have seen goslings get munched on Dalrymple.
The only way to know if you have a fowl-eating fish is to check it's stomach contents (kill it). So, for those that catch and release, just assume that you caught the biggest/baddest predator in the lake and let it go (after a pic of course).

not mine but a buddies.
Andrew, you da man.
Even holding up to the camera doesn't make it look big. I had to call in the guy who is used to handling such small things...

Why bother...go fishing instead.

I went out for the long weekend, stayed in a 1 season pup tent. When we could get out on the Lake ( high winds, and waves over the side of the little boat) we did very well. For the 3 hours of real time on the water. We landed over 40 fish.We were looking for big Pike.Casting big buck tail inline spinners, and big stick baits. We only got 50 % Pike. The Bass were on the bite.We tried bigger buck tails, and faster, but the Bass were in the same places we were hitting some good Pike.We did'nt want to mess the Bass up.But we were using BIG pike baits, and olny landing 50% Pike.I guess there is'nt much you can do.
Here are some of the pic's.We tried to take lots of pic's.But when the bite turned on.It was hard to pick up the cam all the time.More of less, 20 Pike this size. And 20 Bass around the same size. And I should'nt have to say this.But... of course all the Bass we put back as gentle as possible. We moved all over the Lake. And hit some good Pike.Problem was the Bass when in the same places. Not much we could do.
The weather SUCKED!!! but I had a great weekend.I dressed for the weather and tuff'd it out!!!The nite time sleeping was cold and windy. But hey...This is Canada.
I'm glad I went.Any day is a great day to go fishing.Good weather or bad. They are all good.
Were ya fishin on 'Lake X'? How did the trailer hold up?

I will post a report once I get a chance to try it out.

Guys weekend at my buddies cottage... with his own private lake....rainbows and speckies & a little turkey hunting. Ya, it's rough, but somebody has to do it.
-
What about slot limits? That would make this NOT applicable here...
I could just see it:
"Oh darn another 9 lb walleye - too bad I have to keep it, too. One more and I'll have to stop fishing and go home."
-
smoke em that day. then they are prepared and no longer in your limit for the next day
I like the way that your mind works.

So, does this mean that you should date any packages of fish that you may be gifting?

I paid $129 US for my Stradic at Allamerican outdoors..
Andrew.
That's cheap. Did you get the new version or were they selling off the old one? I bought two of them at the sportman's show and the best price I could manage was $155 per (taxes in). Some places were selling the older version for slightly less...

I think my 12 footer is rated for a 7.5. I use my 2 hp, 4-stroke on it. I have had a 5hp mounted on it and wouldn't want much more. The bigger motor eats away at weight capacity (fishing lures, lunch, etc) and can make things quite scary. Since you won't be taking the boat on any big water, there's not really a need to go over the rated HP.
My $0.02

Fish don't mind getting wet...

Here's the best link for fly stuff..
Great site. Thanks.

Is it just my imagination or do salmonids tend to be looking down toward their mouths when they are hooked? Kinda like..."what the h3ll is stuck in my jaw"...
-
That's a great story. Meeting people while fishing and then becoming friends says a lot about our sport.
On the flip-side, isn't this a little bit anal?
Come on man, seriously. There are fish in every trib in Ontario right now. Is that really necessary?
Anyway, I hope your wrist heals up soon enough to hit up some bows while they're still in the rivers. Props to bbnotty. You are a fine human being.
Nice report and LOVE the pic. Nice work!

Just found this after I posted... thanks for the feedback.

Well, you did way better than I did. Curious as to what you were using...

I have the Truxedo roll-up on my Tundra. Water resistant, theft resistant and you can roll it up out of the way if you need to transport something large on short notice. Cost about $600 - $700. That was about 5 years ago. Still in excellent condition...
