glen Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I need a outboard cart with wheels cause i like to put my motor in the basement for the winter. Should i build one or buy one? Where can i buy one? My motor is about 140lbs. Thanks for any help.
pigeonfisher Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Most two wheel dollies will do the trick. you will want to mount a wooden board on the top as a "transom". Getting it up and down stairs will be easier if you get a dolly with neumatic tires
joonmoon Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 If you use a fridge cart you will have the extra protection of a strap going down the stairs. A heavy duty piece of plywood mounted to the top as a transom is a really good idea too. Good luck.
carp-starter Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I need one for my 5 hp. Check with BPS - they have 2 models. But the larger one has a MAX of 130 pounds. Also check with West Marine and see what they have.. I have some PICS as plans that I received from someone on a fishing forums site. If you want the PICS, PM me with your e-mail address and I will e-mail to you the PICS that I have. carp-starter
boatman Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 (edited) If you go the route of a dolly with a board attached to it make sure there is enough room between the handles to fit your motor. I have a dolly like that, but it just barely holds my 20-30 hp Johnsons (approx 120 lbs). This is what it looks like. You would need a more robust dolly for your motor. http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showphoto.php?photo=129169 http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showphoto.php?photo=129170 Here is one I made out of an old BBQ. It holds up to 100lbs. I've had my big motors on it, but it really doesn't like it much. I really like the size of this one. Plus it can be rolled right up to a barrel for testing. http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showphoto.php?photo=129168 Edited July 13, 2007 by boatman
Uncle Buck Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Here's mine, i made it out of some old diesets... mind you the table probably weighs about 2000+ lbs the motor weighs around 280lbs or so the book says, but i think it's a lot more ???
