Cool. Took me a second to realize what I was looking at. Chicks look like fuzzy piles of mold, amazing that they grow into something so regal looking. Not the most comfy looking nest either.

I've been grabbing a few screen captures today Weeds, pretty cool to see how much food the parents are bringing into the nest then removing what's left of the carcasses.

It is indeed Doug. To think that these incredible Raptors were once nearly extirpated due to mans stupidity.
This has been a successful repeat nesting site near to me for some time now and given that I have a neighbour with a pigeon coop I get to see a lot of amazing Raptor activity right outside my door.

I've not actually seen Peregrines take the Pigeons here but I have seen Coopers and Sharpies take Pigeons here often.

My Dad used to raise pigeons for racing (but we would also often eat the "slow ones").

During a race...which were fairly long distances, for example North Bay to Toronto...it wasn't uncommon that some pigeons would never return...victims of various raptors.

The coop in our backyard was not only a buffet for predators from the sky, but also various 4-legged carnivores. As a kid with a pellet gun it provided endless entertainment.

Every day for the past twenty years since we moved into this house I have watched Merlin falcons from the patio. In fact just saw one a few minutes ago looking for his supper. 

I've never actually seen one take a pigeon but there have been times when suddenly there's a cloud of feathers floating down into the back yard. I have found dead pigeons mostly in back alley's that a falcon has taken and consumed half the breast and never returned to feed on the rest. 

There are two guys in the neighborhood that have and raise pigeons and the falcons nest not far from them. It must be frustrating for these guys to lose so many to the falcons. Two years ago one of the guys was going door to door offering a $300:00 reward to anyone who knew where his white female pigeon that he just purchased was located. He must have payed a lot of money for that bird which to me makes no sense as he has to know of the falcons in the area.

for Spiel:  is there a way to rewind the footage at all?  When I rang it up today it looked like one of the adults might have been feeding the chicks.  I would be curious to see what (s)he brought back for a meal.......

Before they tore down the blast furnace, we had redtails that nested on it and we would often see them carry off pigeons. There aren't many birds of prey here now but we have some rare herons that the birders would go nuts for. I counted 8 of them in one drive past..
