12 Volt Man Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 (edited) I drove 2 hours to catch the one in my profile pic (from shore). Not a monster but still my favorite fish I've ever caught freshwater (I caught a bonefish in the bahamas from the beach on my honeymoon- that is my favorite saltwater fish lol) I'm sure the biologists will be all over this to see if there is a viable population of muskie breeding in Toronto Harbour now. His twin brother also caught a Musky in the harbour in October 2022. It was larger at 43 ", so there's at least 2 of them.. The Sampson boys seem to have it dialed in for Esox in sight of the CN Tower...plenty of 40" + Pike from the harbour too.. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/muskie-toronto-harbour-1.6637077 Yes, my salty favourite too....the original "Silver Bullet"...Nothing, pound for pound, pulls drag like a Bonefish. Wet wading, then hunting/sight fishing in skinny water. A 10 lb is a trophy, but even 5 lb will pull 100 yds of drag in a single run.. 4

Absolutely, brutal display for a fish that can't be retained...but even more blatant is that the fish is out of season (December 15th) and out of slot (54" + for retention)...which both call for IMMEDIATE RELEASE...no photos (certainly not posed ones) and no measurements. 4
siwash Posted April 20 Report Posted April 20 I caught a massive pike (largest of my life) in the Toronto Islands/harbour area several years ago. No pics, no measurements and quick release - but it had to be a low to mid 40s.. and 20Lbs or so.. we caught several more that day that we 6 to 12lbs.. a great fishery... That guy claims that fish is 20lbs. No way.
AKRISONER Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 guys, if you're targeting musky, please equip yourself with a proper landing net, jaw spreaders and a good set of pliers...a good set of knipex bolt cutters also helps. unhook your fish in the water in the landing net. If youre taking a photo, get your camera ready, have the fish already unhooked, grab the fish take your photo and put it back. Most obvious of all, dont fish out of season like these bozos. 2

Last year I decided to dedicate more time to musky and made sure all the above items are on my boat! Edited April 22 by siwash 2
12 Volt Man Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 Quote Most obvious of all, dont fish out of season like these bozos. ya I don't know why this hasn't got more attention. They are targeting and catching/taking pics with muskie during the off season (usually between December 15th and june 15th in that zone if I'm not mistaken). There would normally be charges laid all over this kind of thing, but I guess because its still a super rare catch people are looking the other way.
siwash Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 Don't mean to make this political but it's the cbc. They are Teflon
Terry Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 Harbour Dragon Seems like such a silly meaningless name or description but that’s just me 1

Essox Posted Thursday at 12:25 PM Report Posted Thursday at 12:25 PM While they are all in Kiawatha's, Rice Lake so it would seem that the harbor wouldn't surprise me. Got to love those muskies
BillM Posted Friday at 03:28 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:28 PM Muskies in the Lower Niagara as well, someone always catching one or two during the St.Catharines Game and Fish Derby in the spring and that was in the 80s when I was a kid! It's really not surprising a few have taken up residence in the harbour.
