waitin425 Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 Hi All, New to the forum. Planning a smelt run with some buddies. We usually work some creeks running in and out of Lake of Bays aroung Dorset. Thinking about trying up around the French next April. Does anyone know....do they run anywhere that is boat access on the lower French? I look forward to following along in here! Have a fly in trip planned for May, and I hope to find some tips about the lake for that as well!
CrowMan Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 Not sure about the French, but there's definitely a Smelt run nearby in Chikanshing Creek at Killarney to the north, and at Britt on the Magnetawan to the south. 1
Barry Willis Posted November 15 Report Posted November 15 (edited) Where I grew up on Colpoy Bay the smelt run didn't happen until around the first of May. Kinda funny you posted this as I've had a craving for some the past couple days Lol. Edited November 15 by Barry Willis 1
MissSophie Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 (edited) Have you found an ideal fishing spot yet? Another great spot I know of for fishing near the French River is Britt, located near the Magnetawan River. This area is well known and popular with anglers, especially during the spring months.
