Warnings about making home made hand sanitizer

Recommended Posts

I Googled home made hand sanitizer recipes and there are several. Alcohol is the main ingredient at 98%. There have been several warnings about making home made hand sanitizer. I read that children can get alcohol poisoning using home made. You Tube has several recipes online. The experts warn against it for many reasons. I am not going to make any. Below is just 1 article warning not to try it.

This is the one I make, certainly not overly complicated at all. Can't find any in stores anyway. Already had all the ingredients on hand including an old bottle of glycerine that has been around for ages.

The Better (Spray) Recipe

Mix 12 fluid ounces of alcohol with 2 teaspoons of glycerol. Mix in 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide, then 3 fluid ounces of distilled or boiled (then cooled) water. (If you're working with a lower-concentration solution of rubbing alcohol, use far less water; remember, at least ¾ of your final mixture has to be alcohol.) Load the solution into spray bottles

Cheers
