The future of Diesel. Is there one? NF

Recommended Posts

Don't believe deisels going anywhere for some time. Deisel emissions controls are in there infancy can only improve. Gasoline engine started emissions control in 1966 with PCV systems and progressed from there took till the early 90's  to start seeing performance from a smog engine.  But for hybrids I thing deisel can easily be a winner (locomotive)  battery technology improvements coming along but with any current motive training electric vehicles are in the mix.

I don't think your guy needs to sweat his decision too much. It is more unrealistic than ever to expect to choose an occupation and work at it until retirement. If he does need to switch to a different type of vehicle or equipment in a few years time, his skills and his work habit will prob serve as a foundation to whatever he chooses next.

Ditto on heavy equipment mechanic. If diesel does go the way of the dodo bird, there is still the whole hydraulic system in play. Bill, as for Nissan and the early CVTs, they had growing pains. Now, they are much much more reliable. Teething pains with new tech.
