Homemade plastic musky swimbait

Recommended Posts

Ordered a cheap airbrush so I can paint eyes... CoLure paint from Lureworks is a water based paint that sticks to soft plastic.

Also need to make my own internal harness and weight yet as this one just has a Waterwolf rig inside it.

Next is a dawgdussa pattern:)

Good god brian, your better than me!

I made some bass cranks from balsa and it took me all winter to make 4 hahahah

Gonna do it again though because one colourway was friggen unreal(black head, glow in the dark green)

Its friggen hard to hand carve a lure that runs true. But super fun and amazing when it hooks lips!

It's not that tough actually.

I made the shape using plasticene, then poured it in one evening. Dried it for a week. Then coated it with thinned glue a few times on a Saturday. Poured the first baits that night. The weighted harnesses are the trickiest part. I am still tweaking that.

Once I get the details all sorted out I may sell some. I need to test their durability this fall though they seem really tough I also may add airbrushing and a clear coat.

I am treating it like a fun art project. They are already fish worthy. The other details are for me.
