Workin' Down @ The Lake

Recommended Posts

Dave - I just got done reading a book - Off grid and free by Ron Melchiore - he and his wife did pretty much what you are doing - they built a house on Hockley Lake about 100 miles from a town called La Ronge in northern Saskatchewan - in their case they had to have every thing flown in by plane - the one thing that did make an impression with me is the danger of fire - they actually put a sprinkler system mounted on real high trees around their house - they almost lost everything because of a couple fires that happened - I'm sure you would enjoy reading the book - best wishes - Joe

Whelp, it's that time of year again.

They finished the ice road last week and I got out and packed and groomed my trail @ the cabin.

This weekend I hauled the first load ot the season.

4,000#'s of Western red cedar I had sent up from BC.

She's all safe and stacked inside the cabin now.

Where do you put the screws to attach the metal to the roof? My metal roof has screws on the ridges.

This is called hidden fastener snap lock standing seam roofing.

The fasteners go down the side and the next piece snaps onto it, then the scene repeats down the length of the roof.

It's a higher end product. The only exposed fasteners will be along the eves, gables and ridge.

Same with the stuff I got.

It's quite a bit more $$$$ than what you got I think but I wanted it for the look.

They sell the type of roofing you got as well.

You place looks good with the metal roof.

Looking forward to what mine looks like when it's done.
