esoxansteel
Bumper crop of lemmings in the Arctic last year produced a bumper crop of Snowies this year, with many Owls looking after up to 6 Owlets, instead of the usual 1 or 2, this year we reaped the benefits of that southern migration due to the polar votex
Whitespinnerbait
Congrats Bill.......Awesome shot for a first this year! Unbelievable birds to say the least, Snowy Owls are by far the most Magnificent birds out there :worthy:
BillM
Thanks man, quite a relief that's for sure... I can understand how much easier they are to spot once you find one (whoever said upside down white 5 gallon buckets was right, lol).. I went back out today and saw another (Might have been the same bird) but she was waaaay out there, I need a 2X TC for my 100-400! Twocoda
The prophecy has been fullfilled...the Snowys can now return to the Great White Arctic...lol....Nice shot Bill ! He is a beauty....
BillM
I'm guessing from the lack of grey that means it's a really old bird? (At least that's what I've gathered from doing a bit of reading) Here's another when he looked over to do some investigating, lol. Twocoda
Its a good assumption Bill on the age and the gender as to being an older male....but ...the information and research on Snowy Owls is still in its infant stage....there have been ALL white birds that have turned out to be females once captured to check...who knows...maybe there are several different variations of the Snowys...I will probably follow Snowy stories and articles for the rest of my life as they are very interesting birds Love the fall off to bokah on the new lens ....melts to butter soft.... BillM
Yeah, can't complain about the Canon 100-400 much at all.. Just picked up a 70D as well, that was it's first outing.. A little time with some MFA and I'll get it dialed in even better.
