For his " drift/float fishing " in the tribs I don't think spinning gear is any advantage. i think thats how most of us stream fisherman started, i know i did, down at the ganny with a 9.5 ft spinning rod and reel, used it for 2 seasons,saw the advantage of the longer rod, so i upgraded, used aspinning reel on my 11.5 ft rod, the next season got my float reel the only advantage comes when doing the 'hero' drifts of 50yrds or more. most cases you have a 10-20yrd drift at most and the free spooling has no advantage Edited July 23, 2013 by FloatnFly Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
