Minden/Haliburton ice safe now????

I called a Minden tackle shop and got word that there is 6+" of ice on some of the lakes up there now.

I just wanted to check on this site first though to see if anyone here has ice fished that area and can confirm that there is safe ice there, before I drive 3 hours to fish:)

Thanks for the help guys! Gonna walleye or laker fish I guess.

Sounds safe to me. As soon as I get a float suit that's my first destination. Good luck!

If you are going out make sure you have fully waterproof footwear. The ice is still not solid so it leaks lots through the holes. We had about 3-4 inches of water and slush on top by the end of the day.

Guys have been fishing the medium & smaller lakes for 2 weeks now up there !!! All around the Dorset area and to the east as well !!! Go for it 6" is more than enough ice to get out on.... Good luck

Was a solid 4" on the small lake I was on today, but seen alot of open water on the bigger lakes

Was out as well James. Solid 3in and black. Great to get out.
