off-shore in Timmins?

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna be heading to Timmins soon for a couple days (work) and I'll have my rod with me. I probably won't bring my Sportspal with me, though. I'm curious if anyone knows any good places to go off the shore there? I'm mostly looking for bass, walleye, pike, trout, whatever can be had from shore - not too picky. Not a catfish fan, though.

One thing I know: under the bridge might not be a great idea. My brother went not long ago, and he landed the following with 10lb test:

That last one weighed in at about 43lbs! Not too shabby.

Anyhow, suggestions?

Hey there: Im from Timmins myself and if you are looking for shore fishing i know a few spots. There is frederickhouse river coming into timmins on highway 101 (big steel bridge past kettle lakes pp) fish under there for walleye sauger pike. Porcupine lake boasts nice walleye and pike from almost anywhere and mattagami river in downtown timmins itself has those as well. The southside of gillies lake has sm bass and kettle lakes provincial park has alot of trout in the park. You can find all this info on the web. Good fishin

Got a chance to fish the polar vortex. We went out on the days that was -14C and -16C. The lakes around town was easy to access. Lickmyarmpit was a great host. Him and his missus and I slaughtered the fish on day 1 out on a little mud flat in 12FOW. We were after pike/walleye/perch, and we pulled up all 3 species. I had my PB walley. Temperature was -15C by the time it turned dark. Wasn't too windy so it was comfortable just being outside. Lickmyarmpit brought up this beautiful pike.  The n

I am headed to Timmins on March break for a Provincial Ringette Tournament.   I will be dragging my son along and wish to possibly take him ice fishing.   Does anyone have any recommendations as far as outfitters in that area that could offer us a hut?   I don't care what we fish for just looking to get out for an afternoon or two.   Thanks   Bryan

    • Nice Offshore Boat

The other day Intrepid Marine released a video of their new 475 Panacea offshore fishing boat, powered by four Seven Marine outboards at 557 hp each. Yup, that's a total of 2,228 hp on a fishing boat. Top speed so far is 78 mph or 125 km/hr, which is pretty good for a 47.5-foot boat that's 13 feet wide and weighs nearly 15 tons (boat is approx 21,000 pounds, plus engines at around 1,000 pounds apiece plus about 2,100 litres - or 4,850 pounds - of fuel).   The price? If you have to ask, don't b

    • offshore smoke break

here is a bad picture from my nightly smoke break a 100 miles offshore in the gulf of mexico, as i sit and puff away on my marlbough light. this what i get to watch with frustration and dreams of being able to cast a line. unfortunatley it is not allowed to fish from the vessel. as the fishing line gets in the thruster seals and its a multi-million dollar fix. theres hundreds of tarpon out here rolling from dusk till dawn chowing on shrimp and flying fish. i can only dream of belize and nic
