On-board charger question

Recommended Posts

I do not have space in my battery compartment to install a 2 bank charger, but right beside it is a storage area (where you see the ropes) is there anyway that I can install it in there?? I would mount it upside down from the top of the hole drill out a few holes to run the wires to the batteries.

Will there be an issue with the front of that storage area being opened up like that??

No worries then. Not a lot of water can get in there. Put a grommet in the hole to prevent the wires from wearing on the sharp edges. And if you don't already have one, maybe you can put in a plug in a more convenient spot.

Do not mount it upside down as it won't cool properly.

If you want to mount it in tha location mount it on the back wall.

Mounting upside down doesn't let the heat disipate from the heat sinks and allows the heat to build up to levels that will shorten the life of your charger.

I have another question. I just bought a Minn Kota 2 Bank charger. My motor is 12 volts I have 2 batteries hooked up in parallel so when I hook up my 2 bank charger do I need to disconnect the parallel circuit when I charge my 2 batteries. That is easily done but do I need to?

I have a chance to pick up a bigger motor for my boat.   I just want some advice on prices, and reliability.  Hopefully I can get some input here.    Here's a quick history.  I run an old 14 Aluminum.  It is deep and wide, and at one point in it's like (before modification), it was rated for a 40Hp.  For a long time, I ran a 1983 25Hp Evinrude, and it would scream across the lake.   But the 83 was really hard on gas.  I got an opportunity of purchase a 1987 Evinrude 9.9 from a good fri

    • TV question...NF

Hey guys, I bought a new TV this morning and also got a surge protector but have never seen this type before with the connectors on the bottom for cable/sat IN & OUT My satellite cable currently comes from the dish, thru the wall and hooks into the back of my BELL receiver. With this protector do I run from the dish into the "IN" connector then out the "OUT" and then to the receiver ?? If so I'll need to get another length of cable.

HELLO ALL!   Glad to be here. For my first post I'd like to first introduce myself. I'm a 44 year old guy who's been and avid outdoorsman for as long as I can remember. Almost every year I go on a guy's fishing trip, and camp with the family (3 kids) at least twice during that same time.
