The SKUNK Is Finally Over!!!

Recommended Posts

went out with my son on saturday morning and got home here today.

stayed over night in the hut.

the insulation seems to work rather well--LOL

i have a brinkman 2 burner stove and 90% of the time i only had 1 burner on as low as it would go.

but i did have to turn it up one notch at 4am this morning.

the hut is sitting over 23' of water and the perch were hitting pretty good.

we kept some and threw a whole wack of them back to live another day.

i have no idea how many we caught but it was a lot.

we started keeping some if'y ones, but quickly started to get a little more picky as the size was getting bigger.

had to keep some of the smaller ones cause they swallowed the hook to far.

Quality time with the young lad is always a good thing. And while Mother ain't lookin over yer shoulder, you can teach the lad some of them finer points of manhood. Like poker, beer......

Bet it was some quality time! Working to try and get my 10 year old out for a couple of hours for the 1st time this winter on the ice.

As there's no hut, if I can just get an hour or two out of him (without his Nintendo DS :wallbash: ) I'd be pretty happy. Even with those fast & furious Perch! :thumbsup_anim:

1st Simcoe laker of the season. It,s been  a grind for some reason, but finally managed to put one top side. Came out of no where when I was reel up to cover the water colom. Was a quick red streak at 60 ft and strike.

    • Reeds huts on Nippising report. Finally got out

With my knee surgery back in December I knew I would probably only be getting out twice this year. The overnight Reeds hut rental on Nippising has been a tradition for 3 years for us. We always look forward to it and Melissa and Dan are top notch. The fishing has been hit or miss the last few years but not this year.  It’s so funny too because this year Dan said the fishing was slow. First night we landed 13 perch and a 2 walleye and thought we were doing pretty well. (Both walleye were bel

    • finally pulled the trigger and bought a few ice fishing items

My first post in a while... Really excited since I FINALLY bought my first ever portable ice hut.  Bought a 4 person Woods arctic toaster on sale and it has good reviews.  Hope it lives up to its name of toaster.  Already set it up in the house and seems to be of very good quality and material is nice and thick and well insulated. It is on the heavier side, but it comes with a nice backpack type carrier and 8 nice ice anchors. First time ever using a portable hut let alone buying one.

    • Ice Fishing Over Christmas Possible/Recommendations

Is it realistic to think that there might be ice fishing opportunities within driving distance from London, Ontario for over the Christmas season? I've only been (ice fishing) once before and have no equipment so I'm looking for a package type deal. The idea is to bring my laptop and get some work done here and there through the day. I'm unsure as to with average weather in mind whether there's driving distance opportunities. It's also just me. I'd need power, although I do have a generator I re
