Well everyone , I'm going to up at the French river again twice this year once at the end of June and Once in July

I have always spent some of my time targeting Muskies. I have yet to get one at the french .

I always stay on the Dokis Reservation. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Zman, I'm heading up on the 20th- 23rd of June, staying at Wolseley lodge. Also planning on targeting muskie a lot of the time, so I'm bringing everything I have with me. Not sure where Dokis is, but I will give you a report when I get back.

I'm thinking the search feature is your friend here...lots of posts about the French. I can't remember how far up the mouth of the French is from Dokis, but, if you can get up there, around Twilight Bay, Canoe Pass, Gibraltar Point there's some pretty good muskie water in there. I've said too much already!

Another great week at Sandy Haven Camp on Nip/Upper French.  Been going there for over 35 years and its about as good as it's ever been.   Three generations of Dietz boys hit the Nipissing grand slam.  Boated two muskies, had hooks in two more and numerous follows.   The walleye bite was hot with 40-50 fish days and limits of keepers.   Bass fishing, smallies and largemouth, was real good too.   That place is on fire!

Fished the Moon on Sunday. Water was highest I've seen in years so extra caution was taken boating around.  Deer flies were out in force, little buggers had an ankle feast.  The fishing was on-fire: between me and my gal we caught about 30 smallmouth between 2-4lbs all through the day, average was around 3lbs albeit no nickles on this trip.  Drop-shotting flukes and slammers was the ticket.  Sometimes you would be reeling one in and there would be one or two smallies following with your hooked u

The area most i'm talking about is leaving Niagara area h

    • Should I consider the french river?

Hello there, just got back last week from my yearly Canadian trip with my father. We have been going to a location that has good smallmouth fishing but mediocre walleye fishing unless you are able to get into back lakes which we are not able to with my setup. I have an old 17 foot aluminum boat with a 9.9 that goes 15 mph with two people and our gear. It has been remodeled and is a much nicer than what you can rent most places so I bring my own boat. Where we currently go we end up moving around
