Quite a shock when you hit the water, and I was used to it. 2 minutes of immersion in the Labrador current is enough to kill a man. We grew up with having winter saunas . Even with that kind of conditioning it doesn't take much before hypothermia sets in. Edited November 24, 2008 by bigugli

ehg Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Thanks for the link! Very important knowledge for this time of year. Wearing a lifejacket is obviously key, but breathing properly seems real important as well. Seems like being overweight might actually be beneficial in cold water.
