Clampet Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 I was looking out my window, and noticed two Mourning Doves land. They took one look at me, started laughing and flew away. What gives?
Guest gbfisher Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 take the little red pill.................
steve barrett Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 I would sort of remind those birds that during the Depression years that those birds would be served at supper as spring chicken and according to my old dad would be quite tasty.

Gerritt Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 Oxycontin is just not meant for some folks..
Sinker Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 We threw some into a large pot along with Partridge (Ruffed Grouse), Mallard, Whistler (Barrow's Goldeneye) and some Bluebills. Where were you getting barrows goldeneyes? I'd love to have one for the wall! I let a lot of the commons go, but a barrows would be a trophy in Ontario. Sinker
pikehunter Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 Doves don't laugh, but pigeons do! Man can they get histaric, they do, they really do! Honest!
camillj Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 We see alot of them come through Muskokas in the fall ... not sure where they spend their summers though
Sinker Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 I have a feeling you guys are talking about common goldeneyes. Much more common than a barrows in Ontario. A borrow's would be a very uncommon bird this far inland from either coast......but its not impossible. Your discription of diving the shot, sounds like something a common GW would do.......crafty little buggers!! Sinker
Sinker Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Once duck season opens, my fishing gear collects dust......open water duck hunting is my specialty. Can't wait for it to open again!! Theres nothing like a mixed bag open water hunt! Sinker
