:canadian: I would sort of remind those birds that during the Depression years that those birds would be served at supper as spring chicken and according to my old dad would be quite tasty.

I was looking out my window, and noticed two Mourning Doves land.

They took one look at me, started laughing and flew away.

What gives? :dunno:

We threw some into a large pot along with Partridge (Ruffed Grouse), Mallard, Whistler (Barrow's Goldeneye) and some Bluebills.

Where were you getting barrows goldeneyes? I'd love to have one for the wall! I let a lot of the commons go, but a barrows would be a trophy in Ontario.

I have a feeling you guys are talking about common goldeneyes. Much more common than a barrows in Ontario. A borrow's would be a very uncommon bird this far inland from either coast......but its not impossible. Your discription of diving the shot, sounds like something a common GW would do.......crafty little buggers!!
