  1. Just need to say, If you drive Ottawa to Dryden one shot, you will not want to fish for 2 days.

But that is the area for lots of big ones in the bush.

Watsons pine portage is a good spot a fair bit closer

  2. Beats me. I know that 20 years ago snowmobile manufacturers went to 4 stroke engines to comply with emission regulations, and also etec type 2 strokes. It baffles me that manufacturers can't make an engine that accomodates ethanol . Hope this doesn't bite me in the ass but I have a 60 4 stroke outboard 12 years old and a 135 hp snowmobile the same. Always ran the cheapest gas I could get and never an additive. Shut them off at end of season with whatever gas was left in the tank and started again next season and rode away. Did annual maintenance  and took care of stuff but thats it. 30,000 km on the snowmobile and runs like new, no idea on hours on the outboard but a few

I have no problem with the gov't managing the resource through seasons, limits, slot sizes, sanctuary zones, number of rods/hooks, barbless, artificials only, etc...but restricting the way in which I can "find" fish...well, that's over the line for me.

Regardless, trying to prohibit technology never works.

If they actually managed the resource. I think they do a crap job of it as it is all reaction rather than actual planning and management.

I had a co make a crappy comment to me this winter about keeping a small lake trout and I told him I just wanted one little guy for breakfast. Then his partner goes on to say that a laker doesn't mature till about 22 inches for reproduction. So whats the point. Do you know what you are talking about or not.

    Not you crow, him

The neighbouring hunt camp brought in a bottle of that STUFF to welcome us to their part of the country.  It was pretty vile. but we drank it.  Chaos ensued.  Somebody's underwear got ripped off and hung up.  Somebody tried to cook popcorn and there was popcorn absolutely everywhere.  The upholstered furniture that came with the camp got stained permanently.  It was a total train wreck.

My advice:  if you want bananas, eat them don't drink them.

Holy crap, was that you?...one of our best parties ever....

    Hey Guys,
I fish Pigeon Lake mainly for eyes, Bluegills and occasionally musky. Weededges and humps.  My ride is a 2007 Lund Tyee 1750. My current motor is a 2007 Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 24v without Spotlock.  Works fine.  My electronics is a Lowrance HDS 7 with over 600 waypoints. Will likely upgrade that to Humminbird at some point to sinc with MinnKota.
But it’s  often windy and it’s a pain to keep on a spot or follow a weed line.
Thinking of upgrading to a new Powerdrive or TerraNova. Which would you prefer?  And is a handheld remote alone sufficient?  I’d have no footpedal and cable to take up space. Seems better but want to know what experience says.   Thanks.

I don't know what to say here and after perusing the replys it's more difficult.

How bout you steer your own boat and hold it on a fishing spot.

    Give the fish a chance

    Rant over..LOL

Meh, old wives tale, I've never had issues catching fish with Banana's in the boa, even when someone has hid them in my boat. 😆

People hide bananas in your boat...were you in a derby with them

  8. Just wondering what you all think.

I know bananas are bad in a boat but what about ice fishing.

My buddy is bringing bananas ice fishing. Just on sleds to backwoods lakes and no hut.

He isn't doing well, I'm not doing great but not bad.

You think the skunk is touching without even a boat?

Should I say something to him?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

  9. Just saw a news article that was titled, Global race to develop cold weather batteries.

Thats good, but. There are some northern communities but most of the worlds population is in warmer climes. So, concentrate on good batteries there and we will run off the devils fossil fuel till they figure it out. Mostly saves the world.

  10. Gord is a tournament and TV fisherman. Does he have any scientific studies to back his opinion.

Not that I disagree but science rules over opinion...generally

Where I live bass are open year round because they are a nuisance predator fish for the trout and walleye we mostly target.

To go with the catch and release direction they would be outlawing most tournaments which least bothers me except for kids like them at the cottage.

A few lure and boat manufacturers may be perturbed.

The problem is, how do you write a law to keep everybody happy.

  11. Tournament fish are always weighed on the water. Walking distance of carrying the fish from livewell and back to water. It is illegal to transport live gamefish.

Would point of capture be where it was hooked or landed. How far can you drift while taking a picture.

That would be as ambiguous a rule as immediately tagging a moose and immediately informing the rest of the party that a moose was shot. No matter what, you shoot, they have a charge to lay.

They need to address the ridiculous rules for baitfish zones they just came up with first
