No unfortunately, you can not upgrade the rod, and in response to solo paddler, St. Croix encourages over the counter exchange. If I have the model in question, I will most certainly exchange it for you( ya still got to pay the ($20 shipping fee)

Come up and see me, I will take care of you. $20 for the return shipping, but I lump a bunch together and split the shipping cost down between 3-4 customers. Sending some in on tuesday. Let me know.

Yes they are pricey, it is a small centerpin reel on a ML rod. I have seen them, I have some orderd for the store but only because a few have requested them. I can't see many stores carrying much stock but they do look neet. I would be worried about setting the hook and having it birds nest on ya or when ya toss it down to land the fish having it spool out... I like the idea of the fly reel on a rod, at least then ya got a drag...

Were there many guys out there? It looks like you were off of shermans point, we saw a few guys out there running planer boards but after almost sinking the boat in the waves last weekend we decided to pack it in for the year. Now are you going to give away the secrets and let us know what gear you were running
Nice haul

Just went into a panic, I have had 5 on order for the store for quite some time now, just gave the supplier a call wondering where mine are, but they still have not received the shipment. 5 coming in, one is for me
Wow, that is a steal, I pay 287 plus shipping and price them at $350 just to break even in my store...I may buy them at cosco instead of the MFGR...

I am a St Croix dealer and am very impressed with their customer service. I usually try to put 3 or 4 rods together for my customers to help cut down on the shipping. The tubes cost around $23 from here in orangeville down to the depot and then you have to pay the $20 for the return shipping from StCroix. Never had one refused yet, so $7 + $20 + $30(non warranty tip replacement) = $57 for a brand new $200 rod is a heck of a deal. Other companies that I deal with charge you a $70 warranty regestration then if the rod does break you are on the hook for all the shipping also. One particular rod cost the customer $120 to replace his $150 rod...Lifetime warranty dosen't mean free replacement...

Try a jointed beleiver in the natural walleye pattern, couple of customers have had good luck this year with them on Pigeon, including a 48 last sunday. I am waiting for him to e-mail me the pic...
Depends where on Simcoe you go, I target mainly cooks bay from the Gilford side and it can be walked pretty easy. They do run an Ice Taxi service there also but not sure what it costs. Quads are nice, sleds are better, but the best is friends with quads or sleds...LOL

Every two or 3 drifts and definately after every hit ya got to check your leader. 6lb is plenty, let the rod do the work, don't horse em too much. Quality leaders are the key, froghair, raven, dairikki. Hope this helps a bit.
