  1. Top surface fishing for bass when the time is right is awesome but I think my favourite will soon be replaced with fly fishing dries in a river when the trout are feeding. I just haven't experienced it yet but can imagine.
  2. I think it was a combination of both. I remember thinking there is NO way that little nymph is hitting the bottom with that stronger upper current. So what do you guys do in situations like these, do you "high stick" it, like hold your rod high and not letting the main line float like that? And in order to hit bottom do you add little tiny splitshots to your leader? But wouldn't that mess up your presentation?
  3. Yes - the indicator is on my shopping list. And thx for the comment
  4. Cool ... I'll source one too then. Thx.
  5. Aah I see. But is that any fish or the cold water brookies and browns? And I was planning to hit the headwaters where the temps should be cooler. Can the head waters get that warm too? Miro
  6. Glad you liked it. I have got a "river mission" this summer, so stay tuned for more of these, hopefully with fish on the other end of the line.
  7. Thanks - I was using BWO nymphs and emergers, also tried dries. Did you fish Saturday?
  8. Irony is that I met these guys at this year's Toronto Sportsman Show. I was curios to join them, I have their card with me. These guys meet every Tuesday - they even teach you how to build fly rods. And yes Gord is still active according to the guy I was talking to at the booth. Now that you mentioned this group and given his track record, I think I will pay them a visit for sure. Thanks!
  9. Next time Brad. Thx for the tip.
  10. Thank you Mike. I have been practicing over the fall and winter months in the creek behind my house.
  11. Thx for the tips. Yes, wasn't easy at all. I felt like they were watching me the whole time tucked under the banks with a smurk on their face .... hahaha
  12. Hahah yes - that is because the camera was mounted on my head almost at the eye level
  13. Just thought I upload this video of me hitting the Credit river this past weekend. Sun was bright, water was high and fast ... didn't get a bite but neither did the other fly fishermen I saw that day. Still fun though. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/aQZa5OR8p-0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  14. I can attest to that
  15. Since we share the same passion and proximity, thought I'd add you.

  16. Very nice. I was out doing the same thing yesterday with my GoPro but the water was too murky. Awesome photos.
  17. So you went just this past weekend? How was the bug activity? My trip on the opening day wasn't that great, I am thinking of hitting again either this weekend or the following.
  18. Beautiful family there. Congrats. Lots of fish but only ONE family.
  19. What a nice read ... like a novel. Thanks Mike. As I was reading about them fallen trees in your report I remembered the fallen trees on my lake and the splashes around them. Nostalgia already? Can't be. And I bet you could have eaten those fish raw. And that frying pan pic of yours was truly torturous. Thanks and keep it up. Miro
  20. Lol @ widemouth ... hahahah Okay thanks for the tip - I will definitely keep that in mind. Like I said, came away with experience. Miro
  21. As I sit here in office and going over this post I just left, a thought hit me ... "I never worked this hard even to get girls when I was younger" ... strange isn't it.
  22. Hey Knuguy, Got to AP at 11:30pm Friday night and what was interesting is as I was driving up, the temp was dropping by a degree every 20minutes of driving... Anyhow, very cool Friday night/Sat morning (-10 or -11) and the following day hit a brookie lake with a 1 hr portage with a (novice) buddy of mine. Within 10 paddles I saw splashes near the shore but long story short, my buddy couldn't position the canoe properly, didn't know the JStroke, banging the paddle against the canoe, and worst of all he was trying to work the shoreline too. Spooked any fish that were there. Came back to the same spot the next day but it was too sunny and windy - no action. That same day then decided to hit the Oxtongue river but it was pretty high, no chance of wading it. Got disappointed and came back a day early than I wanted to. But came back with experience and some lessons learned. Either go alone or go with someone who knows what they are doing. I will be hitting AP one more time this spring and hope to share some trout pix with you all then. This is all I got for pix: Haha - this is that Friday night/Sat morning I was talking about. I had to abort the tent and get to the car but didn't help. Froze my #$ off. Woke up every 2 hours to take a leak ... damn.
