Just heard on the radio that JT has decided against the Islanders and that only Toronto and San Jose are still in the running! Three top line centers would sure go a long way to hopefully ending the drought. Note I said hopefully! LOL HH

Grass seed and re-seeding/ patching lawns question, nf
Headhunter replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
Keep the burlap on the grass until you see the blades of grass peaking through the burlap. Wait until you see lots of grass. Keep watering it every day so that the ground stays wet. You can cut it when you are ready. HH -
If memory serves me well, these reality shows pay on a per episode basis. I believe that the "Alaska Bush People" were pulling roughly 10K per episode... split among the family members. HH

It reminds me of Cold Water Cowboys. It's gong show and I always end up wondering how they actually make any money! It's a miracle they actually get any fish into the boat! HH

I think you are going to like the results Chris! Just be sure to keep it wet. HH -
Well, my first thought in hearing that he was gone was, hey, didn't he have a young daughter? Admittedly, I was pretty offended when I read Snidley's post, but, it did get me thinking. We don't know the dynamics of his life and family. I am beginning to wonder if his 11 year old daughter is better off without him. Not to sound cold hearted, but , being on the road over 200 days a year and all the other obligations, maybe she is better off without him? That doesn't mean that I am not going to miss his show... Get one of these and keep it handy. Great out in the boat as it will keep you entertained until you get a hit. I've had mine for years, highly entertaining and effective. Those one's you at CTC just don't work well, this version has the horsepower to do major damage... just don't try it on yourself, don't ask me how I know! https://www.amazon.com/Executioner-Swat-Mosquito-Swatter-Zapper/dp/B003TT3GDC HH

Headhunter replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
We were up at Bernie's a couple of weeks ago and he had one out for us to peruse. Brought back some good memories of BOQ gtg's we used to have. HH -
Not for dogs, but for humans, try this. When the little bastages are flying around your head, put your hand on your head, palm down. They will land on your hand and you can whack 'em. Once whacked, dig a hole in the ground, two feet deep. Drop the stunned deer fly into the hole and fill with cement mix to just be low grade. Put a rock on top of the pile and start running. It will find someone else when it emerges from the ground. HH

Female dog urine is nasty stuff! I bet it would remove paint if it could! Yah, the burlap trick works great, just remember to mix the grass seed with top soil and it will be fine. HH -
Grass seed and re-seeding/ patching lawns question, nf
Headhunter replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
In a white bucket, mix seed and top soil together. Put the mixture in the bare spots. Cover the mixture with burlap, tacking it down with pegs. Water it daily and do not allow anyone to trod upon it, until you see tiny blades of grass growing through the burlap. You can now remove the burlap and cut like any other part of the lawn. Most places on lawns that have dead spots are usually the result of two things. Grubs eating the roots of the grass or pet urine (females dogs) toxic to grass. If you suspect that dog pee is the culprit, you will need to dig out that section at least a foot below grade, fill it in with good top soil, they do the burlap trick. You will have green grass in under three weeks. HH -
Apparent suicide while filming in France. I loved this guy! Told it like it is and knew how to eat! I feel really bad for his family. HH

Apparently Canadian steel and aluminum is deemed a National Security Threat! LMAO! HH

The now dead NAFTA deal had provisions in place forcing Canadian oil south of the border at prices lower than the standard barrel of oil. With NAFTA now dead, should Canada be able to direct it's oil anywhere it wants? Also, I find it a bit of a head scratcher that Canada, a NATO Allie of the US is now considered a country of concern to the U.S.. HH

Knot a lot of Knowledge - Fishing Knots for anyone
Headhunter replied to AKRISONER's topic in General Discussion
Akri, I don't know for sure if this will help you, but I have a friend with the same problem with her hands. She bought herself an acoustic guitar and has started playing it as much as she can. Playing a guitar will certainly increase circulation in the hands as your hand muscles will require more blood flow in order to play. HH -
Hey Brian, all is well on my front! Sharing videos on Youtube is not the same as illegally down loading music. The assumption being that youtube is an open forum to share. It becomes a problem when you use someone else's intellectual property within the video. If you wrote and played the music in the background of your video, you are free to use it obviously. That's your intellectual property and you are free to use it as you choose. Grabbing video from Youtube and converting it to a format like MP3 takes money out of the artist's hands. That artist has incurred expenses that can not be recouped unless the public buys the music, whether that be the single song or the album they produced. It's not a wonder that concert tickets have jumped so high in the last number of years. With all the illegal downloading being done, touring is their only avenue to revenue. HH
-
Not to be a stick in the mud, but you all realize that what you are doing is illegal and takes money out of artists hands? Yah, likely to never be caught, but you are"stealing" intellectual property by illegally down loading music files. HH

Let me know if you need any further info re Spain, I'll do my best to help! HH

I believe that Spain is much cheaper than Portugal. My father in law wintered there for a number of years after having tried various locations in Florida. My wife and I would visit for March Break. OL, if you are considering Spain, look in the Malaga area and specifically a town called Nerja. It is a beach town about 1/2 hour east of Malaga. 200 bars and restaurants that are in the down time during our winter. Lots to see within a couple of hours drive, menu of the day is $5.00 CAD and includes three courses and a bottle of wine. You can surf cast the Med, day trip to the Alhambra, take a ferry at Gibraltar and hit North Africa for the day. There is a "Canadian" village on the edge of town, it's a town house complex that is almost entirely filled with Snow Birds. Beats the crap outta Florida! HH
